Seen them tonight... IMHO dirty bass (excllent stuff) and thwey did an inspired cover version, unlike f***wits like the ordinary boys for example, of Candi Staton.

And......

The Rakes last night exceeded my expectations.

So in the last couple of months (discounting Moz n' supports) heres my list in chronological order of the best bands i've seen......

1) The Fall, Bristol Academy
2) The Organ, Cardiff Barfly
3) Longcut, Clwb Ifor Bach
3b) Nne Black Alps- couldn't be arsed renumbering things!
4) Kanye West, CIA
5) The Rakes, Solus (and The Young Knives too but I only caught 2 songs)
6) Hope of The States, Cardiff Barfly
7) Paul the wife in the "cermony of affirmatation and blessing" I went to last week singing; Paris Angelicus.
8) Giant Drag. It was!!!!!!!

So whats the best band anyone else has seen recently?

i was at the longcut gig, was fairly impressed with them thought they were quite quirky. in fact i was tempted to go round that gig trying to get rid of my spare ticket - if i had done that i wouldn't have had to bother with this internet malarky? i thought 'we start fires' were a load of shite, i was quite frankly embarrassed to be watching them. Klaxons were good but a bit cocky.
