thanks for your reply but i am really after advice on the best bit torrent client because, as i understand it, if i use a 'rare' client then it will be hard to download files as they are not from the same client.
i hear azureus is the most popular, but is it the best? i want to know from personal experience what is the best bit torrent client (software program to access the bit torrent network such as isohunt).
any ideas?
cheers

Well, I've used a couple of bittorrent clients (Bittornado, azureus, Bitcomet). In my oppinion, azureus is by far the best. ;)

thanks vulgar!
if you have more than one client does it take up loads of space on your computer, or is the advantage of having loads miniscule?

Get utorrent.
http://www.utorrent.com/
Trust me. I've tried a slew of them, and none of them come close to utorrent. It's less than a megabyte in filesize, and there's nothing to install. If you're new to torrents, this would be a good start. Just download it to a spot on your hard drive where you know it is.
To download a torrent, click a torrent link (http://www.torrentspy.com is a decent starting place, but utorrent has a built in torrent search); depending on your browser, you should be given the option of saving the file, opening it, canceling, etc. Choose to open it, and select the application that you want to open it with (you'll want to select the utorrent file that you download). From there, the utorrent icon should pop up in your taskbar. Double-click it and you'll see it downloading. When choosing torrents to download, be sure that there are more seeders (people sharing the torrent) than there are leechers (people downloading it).
I'm assuming you're using windows. If this is unclear, let me know and I'll clarify.
