I watched the BBC2 doc and I have to say, Mr. Quiffy doesn't come out of it smelling of roses at all, eh? Johnny Marr when asked hard questions about Rourke and Joyce's treatment, nobly (or should that be sensibly?) refused to be drawn on who was to blame for that situation arising. Mike and Andy's comments were telling and reveal a side to Moz that most Smith devotees know to be true, but for the sake of keeping their rose-tinted memories intact, choose to airbrush out of view. Still, it was lovely to view the Top Of The Pops performances again (I particularly enjoyed seeing 'What difference does It Make' again, as that was the first time I'd ever seen or heard of the Smiths, and was at the time something of a Lionel Richie fan!). Moz has his work cut out to restore his somewhat tattered reputation, and doesn't help himself inthe slightest by declining to appear on programmes like the one on Friday night.
