IT WILL HURT SALES which will hurt morrissey's place on the charts which will affect future album promotions, label contracts, tours, and payments to Mike Joyce. not to mention poor Sanctuary; I really don't think they could afford it.
besides, we heard enough already to get us excited.

Even if the whole album leaks, I'll still be buying it the day it comes out.

but many won't...especially those who use computers to play all their music and ipods...a lot of people only have mp3's, why do you think Itunes is selling music well...
Don't leak it. it will probably lose 10-15% in sales if it is leaked. maybe more...because once the media gets ahold of any news of a leaked album...everyone interested in buying the morrissey album will get around to downloading the leaked album...it's not just us Moz-Soloers

I think that's debatable.
Just look at the success that the Arctic Monkeys have had recently, that's mostly down to word of mouth and file sharing. I wouldn't believe everything you hear from the record companies.

I don't think it's the fans who have leaked the album, hmmm? someone in some level of power inside had leaked tracks. That is not the fans fault. Moz has the right to be upset, but the industry needs to come up with a way to deal with this - for instance, releasing it on itunes sooner than April. OR they need to keep it under lock and key.
Other big albums like Madonna's did not leak untuil about 8 days prior to release. If they can make it that long with Madonna, there is no excuse here. Fans will be too curious to avoid it, IMO. If only because everyone is already debating the merits of the tracks.
Sanctuary, given its fragile state, should have made sure they had this under control. Any blame goes to the inside, not the fans.

"According to this here machine-- "The Album Sales Predicter 2000"-- illegal downloads did not hurt sales. Oj Lavan'"
I mean did you ever think that last time more records could have been sold?
listen fuck face...the entertainment industry supports many people, not just top executives...but people lower on the ladder that get paid and have families to support....i am one of them and i see how illegal movie bootlegs has hurt everyone including those at the bottom of the industry. so fuck off...the album is not just Morrissey's or some ceo's ("oh they have a lot of money anyways"), but everyone who works at Sanctuary. So don't fucking steal it from them.

It would have been nice if the same sort of indirect statement would have been made condemning the amount of tickets happily being touted around for the tour. It's OK for you to have to pay x4 face value for a ticket 'cause that costs them nothing.

Statistically illegal music downloaders also purchase far more music legally than regular people. You may call it theft but I call it a more time-effective way of finding new music to buy than listening to the radio in the vain hope that something I like will be played. Also, a lot of albums are streamed live on legal websites in the week of release so it seems to me that at least some people in "the industry" can see the benefits of letting the public sample before making a purchase.
All of which is besides the point. The people glued to this website all weekend desperate for a sniff of a new Morrissey song are not the people you should be angry with. We're going to buy the album and however many formats of the singles they chose to release. I would have thought every fan instinctively knows that.
