Burn Pete's Coat!

Guest
Pete Burns was just telling Michael Barrymore on "Celebrity" Big Brother about when he duetted with Morrissey at the Royal Albert Hall during The Smiths days.
He was saying how he'd got everything set up just as he liked it during the soundcheck, microphone stand adjusted to the correct height, just the right effects/delay/reverb etc. on his vocal, and how he sounded fantastic during the soundcheck, but when he was called onstage to sing the mic stand had been lowered and all the effects taken off his voice.
He said that the sound guy, who he said he knew well, had told him that Morrissey had deliberately sabotaged it so he wouldn't be upstaged! LOL!
I find this highly unlikely, but it was just broadcasted to the Nation either way.

I saw this as well. I bet there's some truth in it. I reckon a definite clash of egos. I bet he set it up so that he could drown out Morrissey (he had a much stronger voice at the time) but Moz realised and nobbled him instead.

Anyway, funny story. He seemed well pissed off about it after 20 years.
