i for one would feel sorry for alain - he has made a great contrubution to morrisseys solo work. But i personally feel that morrissey needs to shake up the band slightly. and jesse is a very good guitar player as was evident on kilborn. i suspect alain is no longer in the band purely because of the wording in boz's diary. He stated jesse as the new guitarist, also why would a stand in guitarist be in the studio for a week. perhaps i am wrong.

Alain is history. He's not coming back. ( I've this on a very good source ). I really liked Alain too- in the early days he looked like he was having so much fun. A great co-songwriter, handsome, great guitarist. To me, Jesse looks out of place. He needs a haircut. Alain, you will be missed.

Well, he looked kind of messy on Kilborn but maybe I'm just not used to him yet. I still wonder what happened to Spencer Cobrin? Does anyone know?

I was thinking that the other day as I am fond of him. Are his band still going? I tried going on their website but it was down so I'm assuming not...

And why isn't Sanctuary being straight with us if Alain has, indeed, left the band?

I also think that maybe Mozzer wanted ALL the direction to be focused on HIM, rather than on Alain too. Yes, Moz and Alain collaborated on many great songs, but maybe there was something else going on that we may (in all probability) never ever know about. Can't we just keep it this way until MORRISSEY actually makes a statement about it from Sanctuary? Stop fretting. We'll find out soon, and if we don't, we don't.

It's so nice to see a logical reaction for once instead of fans stamping their feet demanding answers or making up explanations for themselves.

As long as Boz is at the helm musically, all will be OK.

NB: I *do* like Alain & appreciate that he has contributed quite a bit over the years and yes it would be sad/disappointing if he left but sadly these things happen...all relationships run there course.

Thanks for the compliment, Danny. I'm just getting sick of this, "Where's Alain?" business. Morrissey will surely let us know when he feels the time is right. Or maybe he will choose not to, and we may never know. I mean, Alain is a talented musician- what if this were *Alain's* decision to leave the band and do something else- he IS married (does he have children?) and maybe in the future join another band. As I have said, WHO KNOWS? We won't know diddly until Mozzer or Sanctuary makes an annoucement.

Olivia, I was laughing to myself yesterday while I was thinking of the video, "We Hate It When Our Friends Become Successful* and the bit about Mozzer staring into the camera, poker faced, until Spencer comes in, lasciviously licking that ice cream cone. Finally doing it Mozzer's face until Moz cracks up and starts laughing. Well, I hope Spencer is happy with whatever he's doing.

when did that happen? wasn't there a story posted on the main page not long ago about someone that ran into him at Ikea with his gf? does purchasing cheap swedish furniture lead to marrige?

LMAO Joey, I just had heard from someone a few years back that he was married. Might just be a rumor. I don't know. Hey, they have some cool stuff at Ikea! Don't knock the cheap Swedish furniture now!

Haha I love that bit. I think I make too many screencaps of it.

I see on the front page that Morrissey and Sanctuary can be quick to issue statements when they have a desire to.

They have no desire to fill us in on where Alain is and why he's gone.

I think it's shitty.

Yes but they make you assemble it yourself and their instructions are just pictures. Every time I buy shit at Ikea and am assembling it, I say to myself, "Never again." But then I forget my vow and find myself back there again.

Morrissey never makes a statement about anything, ever. He always talks through his lawyers.

I think it's kind of pompous of Sanctuary to do this, if that is the case. I mean, Mozzer knows that WE want to know where Alain is, but until the *right* time comes from The Moz himself, we won't know anything. I think Sanctuary is a kind of cold institution. Yes, YATQ has sold millions and have filled the coffers of Sanctuary. But at the end of the day, does Moz feel sort of sold out? Also, Alain has his own followers and maybe Mozzer just wanted the band to be *about* and *for* Mozzer. Like I said before, no one will know until HE tells us. Sort of like when hell freezes over.

Yeah, you make a VERY good point. I can't see Mozzer doing that at ALL.
