Why? I've never understood why people become vegetarians.

It is obvious that you have never read or seen anything concerning the way animals are treated in order to get to your plate. It's not a very pretty picture. Many others do it because they consider it to be a healthier way to eat.

makes sense to forget what it takes

Patricia, as someone stated it is quite obvious that you have never read any literature in regards to the way animals are treated upon being slaughtered Maybe if you take a few moments to do this your question will be answered for you.

It is really a matter of concience for me. These were living breathing things that had been killed for my plate. I could not devour them.

As a farm child, I grew up loving the animals, and experienced immense sorrow when they were taken to slaughter. I had more pet chickens than you could imagine, and no one dared touch one of them. Even then I could not eat anything that had chicken in it.

I'll take this time to say i've recently became a vegetarian and a rather strict one, and i'am only saying this because before i wasn't.
I personally became a vegetarian because i could not bear to eat another living thing, it would be like eating a fellow human being, to eat something with a soul and feeling just for it to be on your plate is cruel and selfish and ignoant. I could get more into it, but i'm rather disstracted right now..so tata!

coz meat is a pain in the ass to prepare.

most meat that is "tenderized" is actually putrified flesh. That means that it is sold to you in a state of liquified decay. doesn't that sound yummy?

meat is suicide
its not as healthy a form of protein as are vegetables
and that goes for dairy as well. not eating animal products
helps prevent all kinds of life threatening illnesses

I could answer your question. The problem with that is we would have to debate it, which would take time that I'm not sure your worth! You may have posted your question for no other reason than to see you name on the message board yet again.
You say that meat tastes good. Why not eat people? I'm sure they would tatse at least as good as a MacDonald.

it's just some idiot.

i figure an admirer of s. daven...oops, greasetea, trying to invent new ways to embarass me.

I mean, why not? Everything else in life is geared towards that, so why not have someone invent a persona of a weirded out 14 year old lesbian chick posting all over the place a bunch of crap about love and wanting to have my love child? That one hasn't been done.

p.s. Guess what? I don't care. Do what you want, and it still won't change a thing. You can't get blood from a turnip no matter how hard you beat it, and in the name of all turnips everywhere, I scoff at your wasted efforts. Go do something like join a stamp club and beat up on a bunch of tremulous nerds who might actually cry about it.

You feel what you chose to feel, they were merly making intelligent points in response to your question...perhaps if you have this much of a problem with it you should seek other options, such as becoming a vegetarian.....

How sad. Your presumption that I'm not what I say I am makes you feel that it's okay to not take me seriously. But what if you're wrong? (you are) Well, you needn't worry. I won't be bothering you again.

> Why? I've never understood why people become vegetarians.

2 reasons:

1. it's not nice to kill animals. (would you eat your cats? would you shoot a cow in the head? would you eat road kill?)

2. dead animal flesh isn't all that good for you. Even in its natural state it's quite fatty and not exactly rich in nutrients. It's hard to find natural meat, too - the stuff you get at the grocery store is full artificial hormones that promote cancer BOTH animals and humans (this has been proven). Not to mention drug-resistant strains of bacteria, since animal feed is regularly mixed with drugs. Not to mention weird things like MAD COW DISEASE that have emerged because of modern corporate farming practices that put profits before health. Then when you go veggie you eat more fruits and vegs to make up for the meat. Fruits and vegs are proven to contain all kinds of beneficial nutrients. Just make sure you buy the kind of vegs that haven't been sprayed with bug killer, cuz bug killer kills people. Dinner should not be a death sentence.

LIVE IN HARMONY WITH NATURE.

Hey dont get all hyped because i ask why you are retarded....its a legitimate question, after all you did post a series of ridiculas lesbian messages.....do you honestly expect people who are a little more mature then that not to comment on them?

If I'm not worth your time, why did you bother responding? My question came out of mere curiosity. I thought this would be a good place to get decent, interesting, tolerant answers, as there were sure to be vegetarians among the people on the message board, and the only person I know who's a vegetarian has no idea why she's one. But thank you, Hugh, for showing me the error of my ways. I will never ask another question again. I will live my life in an ignorant, Archie Bunker-type shell.

What they do to animals is horrible! It's sad to think just for us to get meat, these poor animals have to be killed and treated so bad. But, if you're like me it's soooo hard to resist an Ulitimate Cheeseburger, or something like that. I have thought to stop eating meat (at least hamburger meat-start somewhere) and as soon as someone flashed one to me (when I'm hungry) forget it! NO self control. If they weren't sooo good. There's more reason than the cruel animal treatment why people are vegetarians, but if they can do that then right on for them. I'm just sayin it's hard to stick with it.

No. I expect people who are supposedly "a little more mature than that" to a) be able to spell, or b) be clever enough to use a spell check. Given your failure to meet both of these criteria, and your compulsion to read every single message on the board and take a personal interest in all, you may want to rethink what qualifies you to think that you can qualify my posts.

Oh so thats what it comes down to?.....i cant spell at 100%? The last time i checked that "criteria" doesnt make one smart, stupid or otherwise.Another thing what does does "qualifies you to think you can qualify" mean? Also " miss walking dictionary" the only reason i read your mindless lesbo jabbering is that i happen to post alot in the same string that you do.

I return to my original point: you don't have to read my posts. No one is twisting your arm behind your back.
If you really wanted to show how mature you were, you would drop this thread. You are devolving rapidly with each post. If this continues, I fear that you'll be just as nonsensical as Greasetea, and reduced to using Ebonics to get your non-existent message across to no one.
Meanwhile, I will be going about my business and ignoring your posts, because I don't like them. Have a nice life.

Devolving.....how interesting coming from a rodent.I wonder what is more nonsensical me or grease speaking out about something or a 14 year old girl wanting to have another girls baby?(things that make you go hmmmmm)
