Morrissey is an irritable, insulting, obnoxious man. So horrible people are attracted to his music and image. 'Morrissey's awful, so I can be awful too!'

I said it was Morrissey's fault, not yours. It's not your fault you're stupid. It's Morrissey's fault for attracting people like you.

I think you have to be ill-equipped for living to get a job there. My sister (a well-adjusted human) couldn't get a job there, but my redneck third cousin with the mental problems is working the register!!!
So, if you're bored, my ill tempered friend, just go to Walmart. I'm sure they'd give you a job as soon as they saw you.
PS - Walmart has the worst music selection!

It's funny you should say that because I bought my first Morrissey tapes in a Walmart. I can remember going there and having no clue where to begin, and only being able to afford one tape at a time. So I would base my choice on song titles, since I didn't know any of the songs. I only knew of The Smiths. Bona Drag won out as my first purchase because I wanted to know why Morrissey would never marry, and what he was disappointed about. Kill Uncle was second. I had such high hopes for that one from the titles, but what a disappointment that one turned out to be.
I think about those early days from time to time. How it felt years ago to discover this wonderful music and feel as though I had unearthed some valuable treasure that no one else knew about. Back then I had no clue about other fans, or how to get in touch with them, and I could only wonder what other fans would be like. Certainly they had to be special, sensitive human beings. Since then, I've found fanzines and have been connected to the internet. I'm sad to say that by and large, Morrissey fans are just as disappointing as everyone else, the only distinction is that they listen to Morrissey. Oh, sure, many fans are *nice* but as bad as things are, I refuse to fawn and fuss over *nice*; I expect a bit more from my fellow human beings. Being nice is the very least anybody can do. It takes far more energy to be annoying or mean or just plain retarded.
I do apologize for rambling so. I guess we all have to be disillusioned at some point.

Man, Walmart must have gone downhill since then. I know what you mean about disappointing people. I just deal with it by internalizing. I've built a wall around myself that protects me from annoyances. Unfortunately, it means I don't have much of a social life, but that's okay, because I know the friends I have won't let me down. After all, they got through my barrier. However, sometimes the bad ones get through. For example, a really nice guy who sits with my best friend and I at lunch led me to believe he was Mr. Normal, no thoughts beyond surviving or actions beyond those approved by the masses. That's why we became friends; I thought he was just an interesting study in normalcy, just to see how the average Joe thinks and lives. Well, he pulled this thing on me one day, that he liked me but didn't want a relationship, he just wanted me to be his piece of ass. Shortly after that verbal violation, he called my brother (whom he has never met) a loser. I'll never forgive him for that. Bottom line, Dan's excessively disappointing. I think that babbling has something to do with the topic...But anyway, I feel your pain.
I try not to worry about how nice other fans are, because music is a personal thing. I simply focus on what the music means to me, how it makes me feel. It's just neat to see what other people who share tastes are like.
