I was standing in line for The Cardigans concert.. and what do I hear behind me but a bunch of wankers talking about how they like Morrissey... Oh and that they just bought tickets for offspring and marilyn manson?? What is that all about?
it is clear that there are many out there with Vile taste in music!
Is it at all possible for one to even put the three groups in one sentance?
Finally while inside .. the place fills with fans no no I mean people who only know 1 over played radio hit. I mean its bad enough that you are pushed up against a whole lot of people who most likely haven't bathed sinced they moved out of mommys house ... but I mean standing next to complete bastards is quite worse!!
There should be a screening process for concert tickets!
People should have to take a quiz or something to get a ticket!
I don't know.. im getting cranky.
maybe its just me but you wouldn't catch me at an Offspring show that is complete @#!!!e for music if you ask me.. and If I should run into that guy wearing the Offspring Marilyn Manson t shirt at the Suede concert.. be prepared this girl is gonna kick your ass!

I can understand your point, but are you saying that only people who supported Morrissey back when he was playing the Ritz have a right to attend his shows? Hell, that would wipe out about 90% of his current audience!

Your opinion doesn't mean anything as you haven't heard the album. It really is a big leap forward for Manson. He songwriting has indeed evolved. "Mechanical Animals" rocks and is often hilarious.

Manson's leap forward is similar to the evolution of the Beastie Boys between "License to Ill" and "Paul's Boutique." From fun but shallow novelty to legitimate and respectable artistry.

You're not exactly inventing the wheel when you point out that Manson is an act. Everybody knows that. It's theater. I'm not "falling for" anything. I'm just enjoying it.

As far as looking at the audience, well, I don't pick my music based on how people stereotype the audience. And you do know that there are people who laugh at Morrissey's audience in the same way?

The thing is, "Paul's Boutique" was 10 years ago and then, hello! More dopey rap from the Beastie Boys (don't mistake that for the ghetto slang, "dope"). Morrissi, there should be more people like you out there. People should have their own opinions about music. None of this politically correct nonsense that some people write about when listening to other forms of music. If you like a band, say marilyn manson, that's your right to even though it's a crappy choice. Marilyn Manson is an act, you're right Sam, and you fell right for it. If you'd like Sam, I'll come over and cut off those puppet strings off your back so that you can come back to the realm of legitimate music. Morrissi, keep up the good work. > Beastie Boys are CRAP¿ MArilyn manson is Crap¿ NEXT!

I mentioned the Beastie Boys merely to compare career progressions. I never stated an opinion on their music. They're OK, but I don't own any of their stuff.

Look, man, your taste is fine. 'Course I think _everyone's_ taste is fine - any and all music that makes somebody, somewhere happy is cool. But this attitude where you think you're so superior by presenting what is an incredibly narrow range of bands is pathetic. You seem to define yourself through these bands, since you're so image-conscious, but your identity doesn't appear as unique to me as you think it is.
I listen to whatever makes me happy, period. I own a couple thousand LP, CDs, 45s, and cassettes, and I don't know if it's the best collection of that size, but I'd wager it's one of the more distinctive and eccentric. Doesn't make me think I'm cooler than anyone else (I'm incredibly uncool, I'd say); it merely means I have a lot of choices when I sit down at night to play some music that will make me feel good. Once one gets out of high school, that's how one starts viewing record collecting. I buy whatever the hell music I'm drawn to regardless of what labels others put on it. Some of it's Top 40, some of it's so obscure I may have one of the only remaining copies. Most of it's in between, covering a broad range of genres. All of it is loved by me for my own personal reasons which no one can judge in some stupid online forum. Frankly, I'd get bored listening to as narrow a range of styles as you do, but if it makes you happy...more power to you (sincerely).

well missy,

i have to tell you the first and only time I went to a moz concert was back in his your arsenal tour I was in I would say 8th grade....I knew the words to only 2 of his songs..and didn't have a clue about the rest of them, but I had the time of my life...after that concert I tried to get as much of his music as I could and I also met him...If I wouldn't have gone to that conert I don't know if I would be as big a fan as I am today, probably but it changed my life seeing him live...so why don't you get off your high horse you silly girl and just admit that you were wrong...I mean come on I barely new what I was listening too when I saw him live..... and by what you have said I shouldn't have been there...I think your wrong and many people here think your wrong.......

oh and how about this taste in music

dave mathews
erasure
PSB
new order
elcetronic
outkast
black eyed peas
Korn

many more...just tired of typing
so as you can see I have many diff music tastes and I must admit its not all great music...but you have to remember jsut cause it doesn't speak to you like moz or some other bands doesn't mean its not ok to listen too..I like all the groups I named for one reason or another....and I don't expect anyone else to like them..if they do they do if they don't they don't....get your head out of your arse woman....

The reason for my post in the first place my dear friends is becuase it only takes one @#!!! er to make a good situation miserable!
Soooo great they get a frickin brownie badge because they heard one song on the radio and they wanted to see a concert.. FINE
But If I were FORCED to attend a Marilyn Manson show or some other crappy show.. I would go and act like a sane person..
I wouldn't go to Marilyn manson and bring my bible with me and say that ooohh I love Marilyn but he should really read verse 8 in psalms.. just like there is NOT a need for a MOSH pit at a cardigans show because some stupid drunk guy wants to start a fight.
Hence if you are a fan and like the music fine! if you don't .. Do not go and irritate people looking to having a good time.
And if you don't like my thoughts on this matter.. Do you think that I really care? Just don't ask me to help you up off of the floor the next time you fall down in the mosh pit at the next Morrissey show.. ask the guy with the Warrant T-shirt for help... I don't want to get all dirty on your behalf.

I understand what you're saying about someone liking a decent musical artist and then liking another artist that you think is total crap. But as you can see, we all basically like most of the same music, but not every single band that you mentioned. So does that make us unworthy? I mean, not all the songs I like come from noble bands. Uh, I guess I see your point. Oh yeah, I'm fluent in English, but since English is my first language, that's not the reason why I can get more involved with a particular musician's lyrics. Musical back-up is great, don't get me wrong, but rock songs are not complete without decent lyrics. For example, the Smith's "Oscillate Wildly." That song sounds great even though there's no lyrics, but you've gotta admit, it just doesn't sound complete without some of Morrissey's singing. It's an instrumental and Morrissey intended it that way, he refused to write any lyrics for the song. It's a shame at times to let good instrumentals just stay as they are.¿ offspring offers to me good riffs. just this. but i don't have a¿ cd from them. yet.¿ it seems new york dolls, sometimes.¿ i know. i exagerated.¿ i'll be frank to you again. when i think about those girls, i¿ hear girls singing... and beautiful ones... principally¿ imbruglia... the songs are good to me too... her voices are¿ good...

How about Harriet Wheeler of the Sundays? Man, she has the most beautiful singing voice that I have ever heard of from a rock band. It's absolutely angelic. I don't think Imbruglia can compare to Harriet in terms of singing voices. As far as physical beauty, Harriet Wheeler is just as stunning as Imbruglia. Damn, they're so cute! Oh, another round of admiration goes to Sarah MacLachlan for her singing voice and her beauty!¿ how can you consciously contemplate when there's no debate, no¿ debate?¿ about record sales, that's what i felt in the last oasis cd (not¿ the b-sides, that i didn't buy)

It's an¿ instrumental and Morrissey intended it that way, he refused to¿ write any lyrics for the song. It's a shame at times to let good¿ instrumentals just stay as they are.

i think a rock isn't decent without a vocal, because i think voice is the more beautiful instrument of earth.

see bach for example: everything he wrote is wondeful, but the more impressive part of his work are the cantatas and passions.

at least to me.

and i may be going too far here, but without understanding the lyrics there are more mistery, more intuition involved...

it's very common to me doesn't pay attention in a lyrics in portuguese...

anyway, all these thoughts aren't applied to moz songs... i really love his lyrics, they changed my life...¿ How about Harriet Wheeler of the Sundays? Man, she has the most¿ beautiful singing voice that I have ever heard of from a rock¿ band. It's absolutely angelic. I don't think Imbruglia can¿ compare to Harriet in terms of singing voices. As far as¿ physical beauty, Harriet Wheeler is just as stunning as¿ Imbruglia. Damn, they're so cute! Oh, another round of¿ admiration goes to Sarah MacLachlan for her singing voice and¿ her beauty!

i saw sarah maclachlan at mtv and she is very sexy.

i'll find harriet wheeler in internet. she must be great.¿ Sorry, I'm not into Oasis. I know a lot of people are, but Oasis¿ is on my hit list, too. Been there, listened to their music, I¿ don't see what all the fuss is about. Manchester usually has a¿ good record when it comes to great bands.

i really liked what's the story morning glory, but their posterior made me angry.¿ Now that's more like it!

yeah!!!
