For those who are having withdrawal symptoms in anticipation of the new album, perhaps you'd like to try a little Philip Larkin poetry-which includes some very Morrisseyesque themes, such as love life and death in the north of england; a good example being "This be the verse". I'm just hoping to see Mozz in top of the pops again (always very funny). It'll make a change from watching lots of "dance" artists encouraging one to wear far too much gold jewellry and having ones bitch slapped up.

Indeed...

I wouldn't say Larkin's a kindred spirit to Morrissey, but certainly his poetry ought to appeal to Smiths types. A brilliant poet.

Ignorance
Philip Larkin

Strange to know nothing, never to be sure
Of what is true or right or real,
But forced to qualify or so I feel,
Or Well, it does seem so:
Someone must know.

Strange to be ignorant of the way things work:
Their skill at finding what they need,
Their sense of shape, and punctual spread of seed,
And willingness to change;
Yes, it is strange,

Even to wear such knowledge - for our flesh
Surrounds us with its own decisions -
And yet spend all our life on imprecisions,
That when we start to die
Have no idea why.
