The Albion sails on course and I'm aboard.
Imagine..they've been reviewed in the Financial Times. That made me raise an eyebrow. : )

there you go.
What's the name of your band then? Everyone should add a Libs song to their setlist I find.

Yeah, we agree.. We already do 'Time For heroes' purely for the line 'nothing more distressing than an Englishman in a baseball cap'!!
No band name.. We did ponder 'Black Vomit' but bass player suggestions are always a bit off the wall... I quite liked 'Blitzkrieg Bop' or 'head on;.. after two other songs we do.. I did suggest 'Ruffian' once as a band name.. it works for me! The name of the band has to be in my name.. coz I book the slots! haha needless to say, the suggestion was quietly dismissed!

Black Vomit would have made you sound like a death metal band from Scandinavia. Thank god you dismissed that one. The Ruffians, eh?
What do you sound like?

Hi Alex..
Well, we're a covers band.. going for the easy win (we realised we wasn't gonna make it with our stuff) and it's indie punk new wave rock.. How about that for a non defineable genre!
I'll post a setlist one day..
I'm glad we do a Shed7 cover though, they deserve to be remembered.. they were one of my favourite live act's! we do 'Devil In your shoes' it's our only slow song!
Are you still exploring the Associates?

Shed7! Bless!
I always was fond of them.
I'm exploring Kill City these days. Trying to get hold of 'new york in my pocket'. Amazon don't sell the single any longer. It's not even available on Poptones. *sniff* *sniff*
Have you seen them play yet?

Seen the Libs twice.. the first time was absolutely brilliant.. at the Astoria in the Charing Cross Road.. the second time at the Forum (was without Pete).. and it just wasn't right. 'Ticking over' is a word that springs to mind.
And when I think about it.. I missed the Libs supporting Morrissey at Brixton.. I got stuck in the bar with Girl Drowning and a mixed entourage of Moz-ites that had taken over athe pub down the road. Of course.. I made Morrissey's entrance (which sounds slightly impure!!), but even that was close.
Have you seen em? Whats Kill City like?

No, I meant..have you seen Kill City - which your reply makes me guess you haven't.
Of course I've seen The Libertines. Most of my 2003 was devoted to them. Thank god Morrissey didn't announce a tour then, that'd have put me into calamities.
I saw The Libs supporting Morrissey in Brixton, and liked them but wasn't too impressed. The venue was too big for their magic to really work, in my opinion anyway. Plus I was a little bit distracted waiting for Morrissey to finally come on.
A few weeks leter they played Cologne - and completely blew me away. I just couldn't help it & had to whizz over to see them as often as possible after that.

Oh I'm usually so 'on the ball' I apologise for missing Kill City!!! I'll check it out. In a similar name theme.. 'Kill Bill' was colourful pop art! And excuise the pun but he could have cut the swords out.. and then left a 17 minute movie not on the cutting room floor.

Thanks for the morrissey support view.. my view a little as well.. some bands need to work up to the big venues. It doesn't come as easy as it looks making that leap forwards to stadium status. I saw Coldplay early on and they were pretty dull and didn't really make much impression in a small venue.. I couldn't even sell my spare ticket.. and now look at 'em.
Come on you Libertines.. and check out 'Franz Ferdinand'.. the next big Brit thing.

I have to disagree there. The Libs becoming a stadion rock band!??...that'd be the worst scenario imaginable.
And as for Coldplay they're still pretty dull - no matter what size the venue they play. The fact that they have a bit of success doesn't say anything really quality wise, isn't it so?

No, we agree on the stadium issue.. I was referring to Coldplay there, not the Libs.. They're so much better in the small venues (so you're right, Libs in a stadium would be the wrost scenario!). My limit is Brixton for all performers nowadays.. except maybe one (Moz I suppsoe would be an exception). The Libs as a 'cult' act works better. if they hit the mainstream.. like Travis, Coldplay, its the end of my support! Few bands retain credibility when they hit the stadium big time, having said that, the Chili Peppers still turn in passionate performances.. as, I suppose, do U2.
