Just wondering what ya all's favorite place to get a drink would be? Why do you like going there, where is it, etc.....? I am malso looking for ideas, as to where to go, as I live in LA, and frequent the same places over, and over again. Obviously, I know many of you do not live in LA, but I ma still interested nonetheless. And I'm not talking about dance clubs or the like, just a place to go get snockered.
There are a lot of good places to go in Los Angeles/Hollywood, but my fave would probably have to be The Red Lion Tavern in Silverlake. It's an all German pub, with TONS of German beers on tap, and dozens of other good/obscure beers and liquor. They serve it in "Real" pints, unlike many other bars in LA, and they have an authentic German menu as well. Of course, it's a lot of meats/sausages, but they have amazing potato pancakes. Plus, it has a decent atmosphere, still rather "neighborhood" feeling, with all sorts of people whom go there, minus the real "Hollywood" type crowd. It's got two levels, with a downstairs bar where they have live German/other type music many nights, and an ustairs cozy dark bar/dining area. Plus, it has a large outdoor beer-garden/bar with heat lamps and stuff on the roof. I guess I like it beacause it's rather dark inside, and the decor is a lot of stone and stuff. I think I might head out there tonight actually....................now that I am kinda salivating for beer.
What are you favorite watering holes?

Mine is a goth / alternative club in St. Catharines, Ontario called The Red Square. The music is fab! Smiths, Pixies, NIN, Jesus & Mary Chain, etc. Saturday nights is the Vampire Ball which is pure goth. I stick out like a sore thumb because I'm one of the only one not dressed in leather and thigh-high boots. lol They're all my friends though so it's alright.
It's a small place but as long as the music is good -- i'm there.

The Porcupine in charing Cross Road is easy, The Ship in Soho, and the Famous Cock is always good for a laugh at Highbury and Islington tube station.. The Chandos on corner of St.Martins as well has hosted a few good nights. Probably doens't help you much.. bit expensive for you 2 nip over for a beer I'd assume..

there is one called the Gingerman which is actually reminiscent of an english pub with the dark wood trim. they also have one of the biggest selections of beer in town, being the only one i'm aware of to serve Tennent's on tap for a brief period of time.
still, i probably get to go there once every 6 months or so because everyone else i know of prefers the crown and anchor near campus. even though it calls itself a "pub", most of the seating is picnic tables, and they have an assortment of pub food like veggie tacos and nachos. its always usually crowded and very loud.

There's a place called 'Becketts' in Berkeley, CA that is as close to a real English pub that we'll ever get around here. LOTS of great beers on tap, fish and chips, bangers and mash, the whole bit. It's all dark wood interior with a fire place, etc. One of my top favs for sure.

Sounds much like The Cat & Fiddle here in Hollywood, even the bangers and mash, but no meat for me, so I must settle for a salad or veggie burger. And lots of Bass......................

Is that the french house that only serves half-pint measures?
It an alright boozer but that policy is a wee bit annoying.

The beer is as cheap as pop - even in the ones in London.
Good beer and a good jukebox is all you need. Oh! and a dartboard.

Has anyone been to The Intrepid Fox in London? If so, what do you think of it?
I haven't been for about a year.

My favourite pub/bar is Shuttleworths also known as The Theatre I think. It's on Charing Cross Road underneath The Phoenix Theatre. It's in the old dressing rooms.
Actually I've changed my mind because my favourite pub really has to be The Star snd Garter in Manchester where I miss spent so much of my youth.

the phoenix is quite far up. It's not too far down from the astoria or the mean fiddler or whatever it's called now. And on the other side of the street.
I didn't know there was a pub in there. And I thought I knew them all! Dammit!!
