Open air gig tonight in this wonderful, essential theatre in Florence, sold out.
Different order of songs in the setlist. I saw lot of guys who are following date by date. The only real surprise has been
"Let me kiss you" that Moz didn't sing. It seemed he missed the tune or the correct moment to start singing but fortunately he had hardcore fans by his side in the first rows, singing loud for him. I read his lips saying to us "help me", and we all did. More chat than in Milano, for present I saw a book and a couple of letters. Despite the huge security we had one try of stage invasion by a guy during the gig (I believe russian) and, at the encore (without H), a true coordinated assault to the stage by usual heroic guys I have seen at every concert by now and others. All treated not so well by security but I saw them after they were catched, tired but safe. As soon as i finish my pizza (I'm italian you know) and my beer I write the setlist.

Ok, I just finished one of the worst pizza I ever had (included abroad), so, for all you folks, at last we have...
The setlist:
You have killed me
Still ill
I'm throwing my arms around Paris
When last i spoke to Carol
Maladjusted
Black cloud
Last night I dreamt that somebody loved me
Ouija board, ouija board
You're the one for me, Fatty
Action is my middle name
I know it's over
Let me kiss you (no vocal, sung by audience)
To give (the reason I live)
Everyday is like sunday
Shoplifters of the world unite
People are the same everywhere
Meat is murder
I will see you in far off places
How soon is now?

Oh, last thing: this night Moz didn't throw his shirt to the audience and remained on stage watching the terrible video of "Meat is murder".

And now the hardest one: Grado. A small wonderful town by the sea near Trieste and Slovenia: plane on friday afternoon from Rome and then a hired car. Don't want to see my bank account on Monday. But it worthed.

Thanks again aliceasr! (Sort of pleased that on the rare occasion you can have some awful pizza over there. Still, what we get over here for the large part is just an abomination)

LMKY sans vocals wasn't as romantic as it sounds. I'm sure it will surface soon

really wish he'd do some variations to the setlist, at least in Italy where he has history and he knows a large part of the audience is following him up and down the country. Tomorrow's show in Grado will probably be more of the same though

I'm not complaining. Hearing 'I Know It's Over' nightly is worth the price of admission alone. And I finally broke down and bought one of those duffel bags he has for sale at the merch table

Thank you Alice for the enthusiastic & funny reviews. Sounds like you are having a blast. I was in Rome & it was fantastic, the Italian make for a great crowd. I await you report from Grado. And don't worry about the bank account too much you will make up for it soon, but the memories will last a lifetime.

One thing I WILL gripe about though: Florence seriously needs to get its shit together, public transit-wise

unless you are in the centro, hailing a taxi in that fucking city is like pulling teeth from a wounded mountain lion. You literally have to chuck a rock at the cab to get the twats driving it to notice that "hey, I'd like a ride over here!"

As he said yesterday: Every man is a woman inside, every woman is a man inside. Everybody was born as a woman....pffffff.

Great Mozzer yesterday. Really easy going funny with the audience.

Yes that's me :)

The tshirt was sold as merch and it's the same worn by the band in Rome :-)

Maladjusted was breathtaking. During LMKY he was playing the tambourine with an afflicted face...

@Thesmithsmorrissey You can't hail taxis in Florence; you have to call them.
And there's a tram and buses outside the venue, so maybe public transport is not too bad...

Its been a while since I last saw Moz, and although there were mentions of him being tired the other night, I thought he had more stage presence last night than the ultimate time he shimmied around London.
I thought the venue was beautiful, with great sound quality and with the odd draft of much needed fresh breeze. Concrete seating plinths prevented people from pogoing so the crowd was static, but very audible.
Moz seem a little bit ‘blue’, adding ‘(fucking) face’ (‘It has to be’) on Everyday (unless I totally misheard that bit ) and ’I wrote this song on my knees… (I usually am)’. During the mic pass around a guy asked for a hug, to which moz replied ‘now?.... im a little busy..later who knows’
The karaoke version of Let Me was a bit long…I don’t think he missed his que as he didn’t even have the mic in his hand initally.
Overall I really enjoyed it…loads of smiles, physical/verbal crowd interaction, a couple of comedic routines between moz and boz and a nice hug with stage invader at the end..…but as always, Last Night was emotional.

The book given to Moz was "Camere Separate" by Vittorio Tondelli. Francesco

I believe its Batman and Robin from the original US TV series: It stars Adam West as Batman and Burt Ward as Robin

Not entirely true

I've hailed taxis before there, by literally standing in the road risking to get hit so they HAVE to stop

and anyway, what kind of back-ass cab service is that, where you can't hail them and instead have to call them?

that black floral dress shirt Mozzer wore in the latter half of the set was absolutely godhead.

This is pretty cool and maybe even a bit romantic, he seemed to be enjoying all the kisses from the crowd. Would have been funny if people in the crowd had tossed their shirts to him.

After 11 hours by train, finally yesterday I returned in Taranto (South Italy)!
I was destroyed for the long journey, but very happy to have seen Moz in both Milan and in Florence!
The Milan concert was fantastic!
I was right under the stage!
And the emotion to see him so close, almost face to face, is something of indescribable!
His perfect voice, the theatricality in his movements and gestures, Boz challenged us with his eyes, see and help the guys who try to get on stage!
All fantastic!
I was also able to conquer a shred of her beautiful shirt designed with small lilac flowers which I then gave to a girl who kindly bit my hand!
Fortunately, an English boy tore me from Moz's shirt that he was able to get just a little strip of cloth!
Thank you, friend!
About the evening in Florence, it had started very bad for me because I had not bought the ticket in presale and arrived on site, to my surprise there was completely sold out!
My lack of confidence in the Morrissey's ability to fill the theater was rightly punishing me!
But at the end a ticket I found and I enjoyed the show!
Too, the date of Florence was fantastic, even if Moz looked tired!
In fact, after Moz sang I know it's over, he came out to change his shirt and returned late, when the band had already started playing the vocal part!
So, just for this he has left the audience sing for Him!
And at the end of the song Moz is gone to the drums, it is sprinkled water on his face and he inhaled in the nose something that he took from a pocket of his jeans! Then he turned toward the band as they should cut some songs in the setlist!
Since then it has been less chatty with the audience, and at the end of How Soon Is Now?, Moz gone away without saying goodbye or thank you!
He did not say anything at all!
And another strange fact, during the outro, the theater lights were not switched on and the whole audience was still at his post, thinking perhaps that the show continues!
And when the outro finally finished and the lights are on, people realized that the concert had really over and more than one was disappointed!
And sorry I was only see this reaction in the faces of many "occasionals" spectators!
P. S. The Moz's crew in Florence was very tough and severe! So you risk that someone could seriously get hurt!

I'm sure I've answered this recently on another thread.

It is Imperfect List by Big Hard Excellent Fish.

Where is it from? It was released as a single in 1990.

I absolutely loved this gig. It's 30 years since I first saw the Smiths, and this was just a joy!! The boy is such a performer! Bless him, I hate how he's so self depreciating, and really couldn't help my little "you're lovely!" comment!

Is it possible to get any of the tour shirts anywhere online? (I'm thinking about flying to Edinburgh but only restricted view tickets left....)

Hi little charmers,
I'd really, really like to get the recording (audio only) of the gig.

I desperately looked for it everywhere on the web but didn't succeed.

Got any idea?

Thank you in advance.

Love,
S.
