View Full Version : Manchester City fan anti-climax therapy thread (post traumatic stress Champions 2012)

Yes I thought it was time for a thread where City fans can get some help to recover from their feelings of anti-climax and post traumatic stress after having seen their side clinch the league title.

As a United fan I know more than well that a feeling of emptiness around this time easily creeps in when it seems the entire world is silent and no-one bothers about once club having won the big thing. I know Chelsea coming from nowhere to win the Champions League and FA Cup double didn't help as medias attention quickly turned to the London club instead.

Rarely have I seen so little media coverage after a club have won the league as I did in the case of City which is strange having in mind how long they had waited. For the first time in a long time it seems the only people that celebrated were the City fans and that media and the rest of the world somehow hated and mourned that the rich club made it. There is little talk about City now as the focus have changed to how England will do in the Euros.

Winning something you have waited a long time for is a great feeling but along with it comes a feeling of loneliness and isolation and the feeling "is this all"?.

Therefor I would like to extend some help to our dear mint blue or baby blue friends if you like who are feeling the anti-climax taking over as summer is well and truly here. Let it all out and I will guide you so that the feelings of emptiness will turn into a milder more sensible feeling of well being and not the over the top jubilant emotion that seem to fade so fast.

A public service thread for all rags throughout the world still in a state of shock that ''the world's biggest team'' (based on self proclaiments) didn't win the Premier League in 2012, despite Uncle Fred Done TWICE telling the world that United had already won the title and paid out to anyone backing the rags to win HA HA HA HA HA HA

Councilling sessions will be held at the following united strongholds:

Malta - Valleta 3rd June
Norway - Oslo 4th June
Finland - Helsinki 5th June
Ireland - Dublin 6th June
Singapore - 7th June
England - Basingstoke 8th June
England - Manchester 9th June (cancelled due to lack of numbers) ;)

It is hard to be a City fan these days and the sheer amount of hate I have been getting from people is amazing. It is even worse when it isn't hate and instead it some kind of ignorance and view from others that we have had our day and that it will not be repeated in a very long time.

I was so high on emotion when we won it but now I just feel flat and it is as if no-one out there is prepared to share the joy with me. You make up what it will be like to win it only to find out it lasts for such a short time and now it is all gone and done and part of history.

I do long for the new season but at the same time I know the other sides will be gunning for us and somehow I doubt Mancini will be able to control the players cause towards the end of the season he did not have control in the dressing room. We have one lousy Premier League title and United have 12 and a record 19 league titles in total compared to the few we have.

I should be proud and happy but as a City fan you know the worst feeling is having it cause you know it will be taken away from you.

City have now officially been reduced to resembling the envying little brother who happens to have some luck every now and then and must boast a lot to desperately try and overshadow the superior historical success of his big brother. Only a little nuissance along the glorious path laid with gold with records that will never be beaten.

To realise how much City fans suffer they have adopted "champ16ns" as the new slogan or whatever. Let me explain what it stands for.

United have 19 league titles, City have 3.

19-3=16

City fans recognise this by using "champ16ns" as recognition of Uniteds superiority. Good on ya Moss Siders!

City's floodlights at Maine Road were the tallest in the league. They were massive.

Silly little rag and more myth making.

the 1 and 6 relates to the demolition derby at the Swamp. ''You'' scored 1 goal and ''we'' scored 6 in your back yard.

Here's a little picture of your half empty ground to remind you......

Every dog has its day!

And you are increasingly looking like the classic school bully upon realising a new, bigger kid has just joined the school. You desperately go around reminding everyone what you were, what you had and that one day it will return and the new kid will be ousted.
And then you get a flashback, to the day when you were the new, bigger kid in the playground and you laughed when you took the place of the previous cock of the school, a Scouser - you laughed as he harked on about past glories and how they would return soon........

The past is yours, but the future's mine, your out of time.......

Wooney was shite, young a joke and out of his depth and ditto for smellbeck.

Hart had a great tournement, Lescott proved what an outstanding defender he is and also how the manager was right to leave has-been Wio behind.
Milner played his part and Gareth Barry was missed.

Will love seeing Man United fans singing about Italy instead of Argentina as they will probably be wearing Italy shirts. The way Woy Hodgsom handled the racist scandal involving Anton Ferdinand and John Terry and ended up punishing Rio Ferdinand for it was good for United who now had several players rested instead.

Yet another mission accomplished by Man United in making England the laughing stock of the world. Now we might see another season like the 1998/1999 season when in 1998 Beckham became the object for all the haters which only made Man United achieve what will never be repeated ever again.

Tough luck JJ seeing England fail just a month after Chelsea overshadowed your fave clubs achievement.

You really believe Wio was worthy of a place?? Even Slur Alex said he couldn't cope with 4 games in 2 weeks. He's a crock. Nothing to do with the Anton case.

And I can honestly say Chelsea didn't over shadow anything City achieved. If I thought that was the case for 1 second, then I wouldn't have wanted them to beat Bayern Munich.
City winning the Premiership and Chelsea winning the Champions League are simply not related in any way - other than it rankled like fuck the minds of Rags up and down the country (and no doubt the Rag heartlands of Denmark, Sweden, Norway & Finland)
Chelsea winning the Champions League only added further to Fergie's pain in seeing the Noisey Neighbours lift the Championship, Chelsea the CL AND the FA Cup - and to rub salt into the wound...... even the woeful Liverpool won the League Cup.

As for England, never really bothered with them, to me they are a London team for Cockney's to watch in their London stadium. I took a passing interest to ensure City's players were not injured. And took delight in seeing a Rag miss one of the penalties. Maybe there will be effigies swinging from lamp posts in the morning ;)

JJ
Still, you still have the Community Shield to your name for just over one month, so please rub it nice and cleanly because either City or Chelsea will be taking it off your hands very soon.

Hart was full of himself and a bit girly with that blonde hair. Lescott sported his weird head and hair. Milner looked overweight and heavy and Barry was pissed.

Wait...can you guys clear something up? When I looked for the game online on my phone it just said ENGLAND vs. ITALY. It didn't say anything about it specifically being Man United. Is the ENgland team a conglomerate of players from England and you guys are picking on the Man U players? Or was it Man U? Because there is ZERO news of this stuff in our papers so I have crap all when it comes to footy education.

Haha don't try and understand my friend. For your info Man United fans hate England and the fact that United players are forced to represent their country just pisses United fans off. For City fans and fans of many other clubs supporting England is a big thing.

In recent time wearing the St.George cross flag has nothing to do with supporting England at football but more to do with showing support for the EDL. I guess you can google it all if you wanna know more.

No, it was a play-off game in Euro, the european equivalent to the Word Cup, between the national teams from England and Italy. The game went to penalties and England lost after two misses from one player representing Man Utd and another one representing Chelsea.

The reason rags don't follow England is because they are 96% non English and therefore follow the country of their birth such as Malta, Finland and those other irrelevant former Viking countries, Ireland, Singapore etc etc.

Oh, right. Let's just conveniently disregard the fact that Citeh starts 8-9 foreigners (or perhaps mercenaries is a more apt term) to United's mere 4-5. Oh, and of course, not to mention that your title was essentially bought by some Arab oil sheikh who came out of seemingly nowhere and spent gazillions in foreign oil money to buy the league title. So tell me. How's xenophobia working out for you these days? Something about throwing rocks in glass houses, I'd imagine.

Aaaahhhhh the old ''we bought the title'' bit again.

Oh course, de gaey, cleverley, jones, evra, rooney, young, nani, rio, vidic, carrick, anderson, the twins (whatever their name is), valencia, berbaflop all came through the famed youth academy, as did veron, ronaldo, van nistlehorse, etc etc etc etc etc before them.
But no, City bought the title....... so will stick to bashing them with that

what's xenophobic about what I said? I didn't say anything was wrong with coming from Ireland, Viking countries, Singapore or Malta. I merely pointed out the rags have a large fan base there. That's a fact, nowt xenophobic about it.

Finally, can I ask if you are from Manchester? I ask because if you do, your use of the term ''Citeh'' is used to mock how Mancunians pronounce the word. Therefore if you are a Manc, you are taking the piss out of yourself.

That was very bitter reading indeed. Every fan of any club would love to get a rich owner and old values would die pretty fast for the chance to win something. Football fans are the most fickle people in the world and would probably trade in their grandmother for some success. That does not make every football fan a gloryhunter but to long for success for the side you follow is only natural.

I see it at as City raising the bar for others and there was no doubt during the past season that United became better as they had a much better start to the season than normal and reached a points tally that normally wins you the championship. If we look at other leagues the competition is sometimes quite poor so it can only be good the league to have yet another powerful side to compete for the trophies.

I am always surprised that other fellow Man United fans aren't more pleased with all the things we as fans have seen our side win. I feel it is easy these days to take defeat cause of all the success we have had which is not a given especially knowing where we were if you look back. To complain when United have won the most championships is a bit too much for me and you must not forget that many clubs cannot even dream about seeing their side win a trophy at all.

Well, I dunno mate. It is not like I have something against you or City. For me there is no problem that the trophy stays in Manchester and the rivalry with the London clubs over the years have been more evil and dirty. I have met so many City fans over in Manchester over the years and they were all great people that I was glad to have met. In 1996 when you went down at home to Liverpool and we won the league up in Middlesbrough me and another norwegian Man United fan comforted this middle aged City fan saying to him they would get their day in future and this past season it happened.

I like banter between fans but I never bought into the supposed hate that some say exist between City and United fans cause my experience tells me it is light hearted and good humoured banter. Manchester people tend to pride themselves on being proud of their city and what has been achieved and is achieved there. I see it as a natural progression that the english football now has its power centre in Manchester and since I like the place and the people there a lot I can only see the benefits of that.

When it comes to City fans in Sweden you won't notice many of them. Those that have been about for years have been very loyal though and I think the word loyal has been part of the supporters club name here from the start. I only know one lad locally who supports City and he's from the middle east somewhere and I congratulated him on the league title just hours before the Manchester derby as I ran past him when out running. That is how certain I was that City would not only win the derby but also win the title.

I will never claim that City bought the title cause your success took longer to achieve than it did for Chelsea when Roman walked in. United used to be the club with the cash as well for many years and back then whenever a big player turned up United bought him. Buying players and getting the right manager is part of the sport as well and it's not just about playing football. Competition is great and it makes the sport better and the the Premier League have never been more popular in the world and that has to do with the excitement the league manages to create each season and the end of the past season can only be rivalled by the end of the 1994/1995 season when United also missed out which for me felt more cruel than it did when City won. Reason for that being that in 1995 United hadn't achieved anywhere near what we have now.

City won the league fair and square and every City fan deserved the success after having been through hell and back. I will now take a well deserved break from all talk about football so that the new season feels fresh and is something I have longed for. What is new for me during this upcoming season is that I will only be able to watch Man United games as I have cancelled my subscription like so many others as we the real fans did not like the production during the past season. I will be watching United online from laptop onto the big tv so that will be new.

Good luck for the upcoming season JJ.

Hate is a very strong word. Dislike is more with my liking and having lived next to, worked alongside and drank in the same company as rags...... I say COME ON CITY...... THIS CITY IS OURS...... MCFC THE PRIDE OF MANCHESTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have this online service which means I will only be able to watch Man United games. During the past season I did not take time to watch many other games than United and have decided that just following United takes enough time cause I do have other things to do as well in my life.

I want you to look at this clip from the past season of swede Marcus Leifby travelling around to visit some clubs. In this episode he visits City and I think that Ian "Arnie" Arnfield explains the rivalry between City and United well and the fact that this City pub have a United fan with his own corner of the pub shows that it is not hate or even dislike but a genuine rivalry with a lot of banter. Leifby talks swedish of course but most of it is in english as you will hear.

Well, it is up to you. I just thought he explains a few things quite well and he is like a copy of an old friend of mine over there who used to be like some leader for the Man United fans that were based at The Trafford Pub. Have a great summer JJ.

Well, I don't. Just not worth the aggro over what is just a game in the end. It is my 44th birthday today and I thought it would be a good idea to say goodbye to Solo finally after all these years as I am too old to hang about here. I just feel too old to keep going on about things that do not lead anywhere.

Take care JJ and the rest.

Congratulations to the MIGHTY Manchester City FC in winning Roberto Mancini's 3rd Trophy in 2 and a half years....

Also thanks to manchester united, who for the second time in 4 months, polished a trophy in their possession nice and clean, before handing it over to the noisey neighbours ;)

JJ

PS Come on City :thumb:
