OK, so not only did I sit through the entire Total Request show to see Morrissey, but they didn't even mention it!!! I can't believe that the votes didn't surpass som eof the 1% that got played. As I see it we have two choices. We can go and lick our wounds and complain, or we can keep it up solidly for the next week. Keep mailing them for the requests, but I'm not too sure abouut how democratic this thing really is now. Either way I will be sending MTV some vicious mail. All of you who had their hopes dashed should consider doing the same. Any one have any ideas?

Yes, I sent many, many, many mean e-mails throughout the show. They are full of @#!!!. I would like to vote for morrissey everyday, but I don't have the time to vote as aggressively as I did today. I voted several hundred times, under different names, different states, I put in different messages, different e-mail addresses, and voted on several different computers. It is a farce. I think that we should bombard MTV with complaints and threats, even if they are empty threats. They suck and they are full of crap. When they played the N'Sync video, they put on the screen that they had 29% of the e-mail votes, when on the results page, they weren't over 20% all day. They played the tupac video, which was at 4% all day, before the offspring video, which was at 2% all day. They didn't even mention Morrissey.

How do those cheesy bands get so many votes, anyway? Aren't the teenaged girls in school for most of the voting time? I just don't get it. Rigged, I tell ya! The thing is RIGGED!

Hey, somebody post MTV's e-mail address so we can complain.

I can't believe that MTV didn't play Suedehead, nor mention anything in regards to the votes that Morrissey generated today. Now, as much I have grown to despise MTV, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt as perhaps they didn't have immediate access to the video. But for them not to mention a word in regards to the numbers voted. MTV can go and f*ck itself...then again, they've been doing that for the past 8 or 9 years already.

Maybe somebody should e-mail mtv and demand the exact count of all the votes posted today. I would but I don't have the address

Oh, I voted. I voted till my sick little arse could vote no more. And then I sat through the whole revolting mess of a show, not once a mere mention of Moz...Damn those wretched beasts at MTV. Somehow I knew in my heart it would end this way. Now I will stuff my face with cake and go view my entire Smiths/Morrissey video collection (bootlegs and all!)to console my aching heart.
Death to MTV.

My thoughts exactly!!! F**K MTV! What a bunch of fakes! As long as they cater to the 14-year-old teenie boppers with the packaged n'sync and backstreet boys, they don't care what other viewers want to see, right? DAMN those guys!
I wasn't ready

We need to try again and organize better. The show airs at 3:30PM eastern time so that certainly isn't the deadline. I think I voted just a few hours too late. I KNEW MTV were going to pull the bull@#!!! that they did yesterday, but I voted anyway, for the sake of all my friends here at this site.
I just knew it was rigged and my vote would be useless, but i voted anyway. Sorry to sound so negative, but it's the truth.
MTV may want it to seem like they ARE being democratic and offer everyone to vote for whatever video they want, but that's just a blanket of deception on their part. Most likely, the scenario is this: all the videos featured on the countdown weren't placed there by the general public, but by the artists' record labels. Most likely, the labels bought airtime for their clients. How high one is placed in the countdown is not dependent on the voting of ordinary shmucks like you and me, but on how much money they are willing to pay to get that spot.
Why do i assume this? I worked at a music store for several years, and a manager once told me that the top ten selling cds our store was advertising were, um, not actually the top selling cds necessarily. Again, most record labels had bought that space for their artists to be in. For example, when REM's New Adventures in HI-Fi came out, it was like in the top three in the store, but we had so many leftover copies that didn't sell! I love REM and that was a good album, God bless 'em, but it didn't sell anywhere near what is was expected to sell.
I'm not saying i'm absitively posulutely correct, but this is my theory on what probably happened yesterday. That and the fact that people now consider the likes of the Backstreet Boys musical virtuosos. :(
