Easy Rider (1969)
Directed by
Dennis Hopper

Writing credits
Peter Fonda (written by) &
Dennis Hopper (written by) &
Terry Southern (written by)

It is 'one' of my favorite films because it is very much of its time. It crosses over the b movies of the 60s into something that was more artistic and representative of counterculture without being exploitive.

Oh my god, it's Robby!

its beautiful, filled with "adventure", melancholy and an incredible soundtrack
I believe it it to be perfect both with and without the voice over
which is just plain weird, but it is what it is...

Sunrise by F.W. Murnau.

Pure perfection. Every frame is just beautiful and I love the way the movie oscillates between horror and tragedy and romance and comedy and back.

Because in a sci-fi world I remain an ardent romantic. It's a film that gets better every time I watch it.

I have so many favorite movies, i watch all new movies as much as i can... *ADDICT VIEWER*... Wink .. some of my faves are:

- Eurotrip (funny and sexy)
- American Pie (1,2 and the Wedding)
- 50 first dates (Adam Sander and Drew Barrymore)
- Matrix Series
- Starwars (since the first episode!)
- Hot Chick(fun!)
- Cast Away (Tom Hanks, viewed 9 times..)
- Spiderman 1 and 2
- A Beautiful Mind (Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly.. i just love the way Prof. Nash delivered his speech in acceptance of his Noble Piece Prize Award)

- the ever classic Gone with the Wind (viewed sooo many times) Exclamation

You really have to be a white trash american to find Euro trip in the least funny. I know americans like it cause the film paints Europe in a weird way that sadly some americans think is true that have never been there. It must be the ultimate crap movie ever made. What is sexy about it?
Your list of films makes me wanna question you as a person cause it is offensive in too many ways to mention. If you are 12 then it's ok.

...and what about 'Die Angst des Tormanns beim Elfmeter' ('The goalkeeper's fear of the penalty kick')? I'm kidding now. Yes, Paris, Texas is a masterpiece!

I love documentaries, and this is one of my favorites.
In addition to being a great look behind-the-scenes at Hollywood of the 1970's, and how some of the greatest films of that era came about, it is also so well-written and is quite creative visually.
It is also an inspiring story of a man coming back after public humiliation and crushing defeat, continuing to reinvent himself.

Closely Observed Trains. Because it was the first foreign film I ever stumbled across aged about 11. It felt like I was doing something wrong.

I have several and I will list them in no particular order.

I love sci-fi and I love David Lynch. At one time I could quote this entire thing. Every single line.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/0/0e/Man_Bites_Dog_film.jpg/220px-Man_Bites_Dog_film.jpg
Man Bites Dog really lit a fire under my ass. I wanted to be a film maker after I watched it for the first time at 16 years old. That, or a serial killer. Just kidding about that last bit, of course. It's just absolutely beautiful and hopeless and black and oh... I just love it.

http://oneguyrambling.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/Ichi-the-Killer.jpg
Ichi... God. I love this movie. I can't even count how many times I've seen it and every time is just as engrossing as the last. I will never, ever get bored with Ichi the Killer. For a while during my teenage years I'd use this as a test for my prospective friends. You can come over, watch Ichi the Killer on my couch... maybe have some snacks... if you laugh, you're in. If not, well, you suck. Rarely did anyone laugh, and I uh... never had many friends. It's safe to say this is and always will be my very favorite.

I grew up watching Studio Ghibli films because my mother always adopted Japanese exchange students to look after me. I saw this for the first time when I was 5 or 6 and I've loved it ever since. I came incredibly close to getting a ghibli sleeve heavily featuring kiki, as well as my next entry.

I didn't see Spirited Away until a few years ago but I was completely blown away when I saw it. I had an extra copy of Eraserhead at the time and I traded it for my coworkers deluxe edition of Spirited Away. Whenever I watch it I feel completely in awe of the beauty of the animation and completely immersed in the storyline. Hayao Miyazaki is incredibly talented and his films (this one especially) really panders to the malcontent child within me. I just... I love it.

I didn't see this until today. I identify with all of them, but I'd say Chas the most. Severe distrust of Royal.

"They Might Be Giants" (1971) George C. Scott superbly portrays Justin Playfair, a judge whose wife has recently died. After her death he almost instantly becomes Sherlock Holmes! Is this just a figment of his imagination or is he indeed Sherlock Holmes! Initially everyone around him believes he has snapped and his adoring sister & her conniving husband have him committed to a mental institution. It is here where he meets his psychiatrist Dr. Mildred Watson ( played wonderfully by Joanne Woodward.) Soon after he escapes the mental institution and sets out to find his nemesis Professor Moriarty. Dr. Watson soon finds him but can't bring herself to turn him in. Together they set off on an adventure that takes them to seemingly every corner of New York City in search of the diabolical Moriarty. Along the way they meet and befriend many interesting people who almost all believe he truly is Sherlock Holmes! Dr. Watson & Holmes become very close and inseparable. And many of their new friends join them in their quest to bring down Moriarty once and for all. A truly original movie in every sense of the word with sparkling performances by the entire gifted cast!

Titanic because its beautiful. Full stop.

Hunger Games because I love the books and can't wait for the new film.

Boy in the striped pjamas because it is beautifully filmed and acted. It really captures the horrors of Auswichz and makes you think outside the box.

Singin' in the rain because its a classic musical, need I say more?

Four weddings and a funeral because its always been a favourite of mine.

Jane Eyre because I love the book and the story is wonderfully acted.

One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest - Brilliant acting from the entire cast, superb direction, powerful, funny, disturbing, moving and inspiring.
Withnail and I - My favourite British film. Infinitely quotable, funny and tragic.
Goodfellas - Scorsese's masterpiece tells of 30 years in the mob. World-class acting, stunning direction and incredible soundtrack. Perfection.
Kes - Another British classic that perfectly captures 60's northern England. Please tell me you've seen this film.
Magnolia - Sprawling, epic film with some of the best acting talent around. Tom Cruise's finest hour.
My Left Foot - The true story of Christie Brown. Daniel Day-Lewis won the best actor oscar (his first), it's the best performance I've ever seen.

I could go on and on.

"Amadeus" (1984) A masterpiece! An A+ in every way. Superb direction by Milos Forman. Phenomenal acting by the whole cast, especially Tom Hulce as Mozart and F. Murray Abraham as Salieri. Abraham richly deserved his Academy Award for Best Actor. Outstanding screenplay & cinemaphotography. The music is awesome!! The story takes several twists & turns as Salieri's jealousy and contempt of Mozart grows and grows. Plus it really captures the essence of 18th century Austria. For anyone who loves movies this is an absolute "must see."

"Shane"(1953) Alan Ladd is magnificent in this movie. Smart screenplay. The last 12 to 15 minutes of the movie are the best part. This will always be one of my favorite films.

It's a really unique and cool movie! That's neat you want to see it. I hope you're able to find it because I think its pretty hard to find. In the past month I went to Barnes & Noble and Hastings and both said they couldnt even order it for me because it's out of print. I had a VHS copy, but two years ago I loaned it to my Uncle and he left it in his truck all summerlong. Needless to say it was ruined:straightface:. I've never tried Netflix, they might have it. I've seen it 4 or 5 times but started thinking about it again when I picked "Justin Playfair" (George C. Scott's character) as my username. I hope you can find it!

"Roman Holiday"(1953)

Audrey Hepburn's debut performance and it is a sensational one. She has personality plus as always and is breathtakingly beautiful as always too! Gregory Peck is superb too in his role as an American newspaperman. This is the only film that Hepburn & Peck starred in together, which is a shame because their on screen chemistry is absolutely wonderful! Eddie Albert also turns in a great performance as newspaper photographer Irving Radovitch. Plus this movie is directed by the brilliant William Wyler. His direction dazzles as always! The whole film is terrific but my favorite part is the last ten minutes. It has one of the best endings of a film I've ever seen. On a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being perfect), this is a 10.

P.S. the entire film was shot in Rome, Italy. Hepburn & Peck travel all over the city and the scenes are extraordinary. Indeed Rome itself becomes another character in the film.
