Do you guys celebrate?
I think I just did this year. :o I never, NEVER buy myself jewelry and today at the mall I randomly bought this necklace. I think my inner Valentine jumped into me and bought it. I also randomly was reading Valentine cards at a paper store before. It's either cosmic or I am THAT desperate to not be alone. :p

(It's dainty but it's a pendant that says Libra and has the scales. :sweet:)

I think that the traditions are somewhat different between countries and in Sweden it is widely seen as an invention by shop owners to sell more junk during a time of year when sales are not at its highest. I never liked Valentines since it is during our coldest time of the year here in Sweden. It probably ends with me and my girlfriend having a nice dinner and that but I think we agreed that we won't buy any crap this year.
Since we celebrate 5 years next month I think we will save ourselves for that instead.

Haha no no no but I was thinking to myself that it must be sad to celebrate it like that by buying things for yourself.
In Sweden our schools in the past arranged this Valentines thing where everyone had a rose with them to school that day. Then the students gave their rose to the person they felt deserved it the most for some reason or other which ended with some students not getting a rose at all and feeling like victims of bullying. So the powers that be brought an end to the tragic tradition of handing out roses.
This was in the late 90's.
When it comes to you being desperate I think it is only human to always be on the go for the things we lack in our lives. It is our sub conscious telling us to do something about it. It is never other people restricting us from having love and being happy cause we do that to ourselves. I have heard that apparently every person has someone in their social clique that are having these romantic feelings for you.
It is all about the signals we are sending out and it is ok to be on your own. It is harder to be completely alone.

I'm just fucking with you, Urban. :thumb:
As far as social clique love, if my friends aren't married to other people, they're married to their jobs or moms, so that stat doesn't apply to me. :p

Oh, CG! Everyone loves you! You lucky girl. Hey, I like your necklace.
Have you seen that show Little Britain where Matt Lucas is going on about being the "only gay in the village" and his there's always someone going on about someone else being mad for cock. Hey single on Valentines Day. I guess it's better than being with someone awful. I bet Morrissey would do a good song about Valentines day.

Phew, just hours left of this horrible silly day we call All Hearts Day in Sweden. I went out shopping with my girlfriend and the things available this year in the shops was a joke. It is like they think to themselves "oh we just stick a heart onto the crap we never sell and then people will buy it".
Teenage girls without boyfriends walking about in the hope to be noticed pulling at the valentines merchandise and looking stupid. Media talking about it constantly and working class people hurrying home from work buying chocolate and flowers because they have to. Yes I hate this day and that Valentine dude was a basket case and I refuse to celebrate such wankers.

You know, I could try to date. But I'm weird, Urban. Sure let's go to dinner and a movie, Mr. Date. But how many dates would the guy go on before he sensed "WTH is happening? :squiffy:" when during the course of dinner we act out a conversation verbatim that we would then see in the movie neither of us has seen? Or on the way to the bar for a drink afterward in the middle of the night a bird swoops down and stands in front of us and chirps then flies away. That shit happens every day, I need someone who doesn't see people anymore to spend time amongst people with. Also, "Hey you wanna go relax at my place? Let's just stretch out and get cozy on the air mattress on my mom's livingroom floor." Classy. I'm not in a position to date, you're wasting your time playing Cupid.

I do not envy you and your dating traditions over there that are not there to make people fall in love as it seems to be some kind of exercise and a way to go out. I can tell you are fed up with it and you really have my sympathy. You're not alone but you wanna be on your own. Sometimes that is better than getting hurt.
