Yes, I thought it would only be fair that Solo had a thread updating current events in Sweden wether it is music or politics or just funny or weird news. Currently the swedish music scene is totally ruled by a young lady named Veronica Maggio. Her surname is cause one of her parents is italian. She sings about life for a cute young girl in the big city, partying and falling in love and falling out of love and buying shoes and cute tops in stores sort of.

She can be seen as brilliant but she could also be seen as musics representative for the current values in Sweden where music used to be creative and even political and meant something whereas she and other artists have made it to be about shallow things one easily get bored of.

Here she performs her latest single on a radio award show that is live on tv and this tune is on repeat on radio in Sweden. "Mitt hjärta blöder" (My heart is bleeding) and so is the ears of a lot of people:

The current big political debate is about a socialist or communist group (the same really) that host these upper class safaris where poor socialists rent a bus and visit upper class areas in a type of protest of the class divides that exist in Sweden. They were met by young upper class boys waving their Iphones about shouting "iphone iphone" as provocation.

Yes, that is how silly and low the political debate is here in Sweden.

The little group of socialists gather in front of a posh building and gets a lecture on old Swedish trade union deals while the Iphone fanboys throws coins onto the ground and ridicules them in the lovely upper class area of Saltsjöbaden in Stockholm also known as "Solsidan" (the sunny side) after a swedish parody on upper class life in the tv series "Solsidan".

The city Malmö in the south of Sweden keeps topping the news for all the shootings that is going on there. Overnight another man was gunned down and a bomb exploded at a police station. Malmö is now famous for a collapsed immigration politics that has thrown the place into a dark age of criminal activity and people fearing to walk the streets at night. Police and fire fighters face stoning from immigrants when doing their job in the local ghettos and the mistrust between the immigrants and the authorities is at its highest level ever.

Swedish prime minister Fredrik Reinfeldt commented on the overnight events by saying that Malmö must deal with the problems instead of promising added help from other cities police forces in Sweden.

Well if you think that communism and socialism are the same thing I'm not suprised that the level of political debate is so low.

It is Meryl Streep in the film about Maggie and I have been waiting for it a long time since I regularly watch trailers of upcoming movies on this movie site I have through my Smart-tv dvd player. It premieres on Friday here in Sweden but it would be typical of this small town next to mine if their cinema do not show it.

My wife saw it and loved it. I am too filled with bitterness to allow myself to enjoy a film about her. I know this sounds stupid (and it is) but what can I do? I'm a bigot and don't deserve to walk on gods green and pleasant land.

Haha, yeah as always we are so far behind here which is another reason people visit the cinema less often than they used to. I just checked online and it now costs 95 swedish crowns to see that film in the smallest of their many cinema lounges that seats 35 people. I guess I will wait until it is released on any of the many on demand services I have cause films that recently were shown on cinema tend to pop up there earlier than one expects them to.

Yesterday Sweden saw the premiere of the first ever Top Model tv show contest. Instead of Tyra Banks leading the show as in the USA the swedish version is lead by Isabella Scorupco who featured in one of the Bond films. The panel chose 10 really bitchy girls and one of them is from my old hometown and she is Ivana, bosnian street girl who likes to fight other girls when she goes out to club the night away.

Sweden gets its own version of "The office" or "kontoret" in swedish. Following on in the american fashion where they destroy great english tv shows Sweden now also seem to crave their own version of the english tv series. "Kontoret" starts 12th of February and stars popular swedish comedian Henrik Dorsin as the office boss and the womens own favourite Björn Gustafsson.

Sweden is bracing itself for the Eurovision qualification or Melodifestivalen as we say here that starts on Saturday. This years swedish Eurovision sees the debut by swedish comedian Sean Banan who performs the song "Sean Den Förste Banan" (Sean the first banana), setting the level as low as possible. Sean Banan is a character that is a parody on a swedish rapper and he likes to show his ass a lot.

This must be one of the mosy useless threads I have ever read. To cheer up the cnversation a bit here is a guide to shopping at IKEA;

Step 1
Ring David at 7.40am and ask him if he will come to IKEA with you. It is important to ring this early as David will be disorientated and agree to anything.

Step 2
Ring David again at 8.05am to check that he got up as getting to IKEA early is imperative. This twenty five minute interval will ensure that if David did get up, he will be in the shower when you call. Ring David again at 9.15 to enquire where he is and ask him to get you a large latte on the way. If he declines, tell him not to be a selfish prick and remind him of the time you fed his fish while he was away six years ago.

Step 3
When David arrives, inform him that you are taking his car because it is bigger. This is also the time to inform him that you are buying a sofa and he will need to rent a trailer on the way. Now that David is at your place you can get ready at your leisure. As you just put the clothes you want to wear in the dryer, he will have to wait an hour anyway. Make him useful during this time by having him edit a website you are working on about Australian architecture.

Step 4
On the way to IKEA, complain about David's choice in music. Demand a better selection. Make David pull over and tune his stereo to your ipod's itrip and play eighties dance tracks such as 'Big in Japan' by Alphaville loud enough for cars around you to hear. Sing the chorus. If you get the words wrong, explain that's the way they are in another version.

Step 5
When you get to IKEA, do not go straight to the sofa section. Follow the path IKEA have set for you to take and stop and look at every item. Point out the price and comparison of each product by cross referencing it with the IKEA catalogue. Remember to stop at each location point and consult the 'you are here' diagram before progressing. Inform David every two minutes of your exact location in the store by marking your journey on the IKEA map with your IKEA pencil.

Step 6
At the sofa section, sit on every couch and pretend you are watching television. Make david sit next to you like a couple. Also, whenever David is more than five metres away, call out questions such as "What is the foam density of that one?" loud enough for a thirty metre radius to hear. Consult with the staff about every couch. Researching sofa's on the internet before you go will enable you to discuss frame warp and fabric weave. Asking about colour choices and availability will involve looking through large sample books. Consult David on each swatch.

Step 7
Once you have made your selection, do not leave the store. Purchase a coffee table and shelf unit and tell David that he will help you put them together when you get home. Also purchase lamps, glass tea light holders, cutlery, ice cube trays, cusions, stackable boxes, an ironing board cover, a quilt cover set and a rug. Make David carry everything, explaining that you need your hands free to write on the IKEA product slip with your IKEA pencil.

Step 8
Before leaving, inform David that you would like to try the famous Swedish Meatballs at the IKEA restaurant. If he states that he will wait in the car, explain that you are shopping together, not one person shopping and the other waiting in the car. Discuss the meatballs on the drive home.

If I had a monkey, I would teach it to track down people who annoy me by using their profile photo and google maps. Using earpieces to communicate, I would have my monkey conceal himself behind the person typing on facesook® and when that person wrote something stupid I would have my monkey run up and slap them on the back of the head really hard then make a quick escape. Having several monkeys would be more convenient but I don't have time to train seven monkeys, what with having to do my own hair in the mornings

I think this is the case when swedish women go abroad but it depends on what kind of holiday it is. If they go abroad to work they can be just as hard as any women out there. Swedish women might be the most insecure and snobbish women you could meet and women of other nationalities are easier to strike a conversation with.

The only girl I ever hit in the face was also named Jenny and we were kids and she was awful to me but I still regret hitting her cause you just do not do that. The strange thing is that she seemed to like me more after I did.

Lively debate in this evenings live broadcast of "Debatt" (Debate) on swedish national tv about the ongoing violence in the city of Malmö. The father of one of the latest victims appeared in studio and held up a big picture of his son fighting for his life at hospital just before he lost his battle. No major politicians dared to turn up and it's a big disgrace and the father was so right in everything he said.

"Why can't the police take the guns off the criminals, do they use the guns when they eat?". The failed immigrant politics was blamed but was soon voiced down by the angry young militant local left wing youth present in the studio.

Sweden will go on with one official truth in media and the real truth presented by the people that live in real life and who long ago got tired of the lies that media spread or rather refuse to report on. Political correctness is losing the battle slowly but surely through websites like "Flashback" and "Avpixlat" (Unpixled) and a few others.

Sweden of today is dominated by the kids of the 80's and the 90's. These generations have lately been called "the control freak generation" as they feel a need to be in total control no matter if it's small or big things affecting their life. These generations are known to be well behaved and well educated and they often buy their home early and even marriage at an early age is quite common.

The girls of these generations are into fashion and have copied the styles of middle age women of the 50's and 60's but with a modern touch, wearing handbags and other accessories to send a clear message to people what they stand for. This change and the birth of these values for these generations have come from famous young women in the fashion world with an upper class background.

It is not like the Essex posh scene as that is a lot more trashy cause the swedish scene is more or less young people living and acting like old people did in the past. We see young girls acting like grown ups before puberty as they dress like their mums and spend days in shopping centers with their friends.

The modern boy is feminine and uses make up even in everyday life and not just when going out to the club. These young men and women know how important it is to find a partner with the same values as them and to hopefully become a "power couple" that can stand out in the crowd and become famous in media or just among their little group of friends.

These generations buy expensive things instead of cheap just cause of the status it brings and if they do not use mobiles and computers made by Apple they are not accepted. The girls and boys have in common that they will rather have their own view on everything than agree with others. They blog and twitter about what they do to get the attention they crave cause without it they do not exist.

Both the boys and the girls talk with a quite low voice and the girls do sound a lot like Disney cartoon figures as they struggle between wanting attention and to live life quite anonymously. The need to be exclusive and different from the everyday people drive these generations on. This also leaves them facing setbacks such as divorce and never finding someone who is good enough for them.

Ebba von Sydow is the main media figure who is like a God for these generations.

Both videos have been deleted by the communist national tv SVT here in Sweden due to copyright reasons which in this case has to do with these entry songs risking to be banned from the competition. Sweden is slowly but surely moving into that time of the year when the schools close to celebrate "sportlovet", which is more or less like our winter version of the american spring break. The break is split into different periods over February depending on where you live in Sweden so that the whole country is not celebrating it at the same time which would create a problem for hotels and the companies owning the ski slopes.

As usual Thailand is the big holiday destination for those craving more sun and skin cancer which is reportedly a bigger problem among swedes since they started to travel to Thailand in the winter. The skin specialists in Sweden call these holidays "cancer trips".

Those that stay at home in Sweden and go skiing often end up posing in skiing gear at after ski parties without actually ever going down the slopes.

Socialist stand up comedian Claes Malmberg commented on the film "The Iron Lady", about Maggie Thatcher, by saying that Meryl Streep just imitates Thatcher in the film rather than portraying her as an actress. He says that he is surprised she has been given an award already and is up for another one soon.

Claes is a well known socialist bordering on being a communist and it is highly unlikely he would be able to see the film without judging it because of who it is about.

Urban, I know it's asking a lot so you don't have to bother, but would it be possible for you to translate the lyrics to this song parody in English?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ImwkF9fkqKQ#!

Swedish blogger Johan Norberg (who only occasionally posts in English) wrote about it in Swedish here (http://www.johannorberg.net/?page=displayblog&month=12&year=2011#3633).

Google's messy translation of the blog post into English:

Superb. For a little while ago, Peter Santesson and Sanna Rayman a nice, festive and satiric prog rock parody that made fun of the fight for Slussens conservation. In such a context, the author of the original, of course, laugh, argue, or suppress it. Or you can as Elvis Costello call police.

Today Wiehe company United Stage Artists from them to Santesson and Rayman and requires them to "immediately remove it from your web page and any other context." In addition, they have been in touch to blogs that linked to the song and demanded that they remove the links. Note: Not to get away Wiehe song, or even a cover of it, but a parody.

So maybe they do in Cuba and other communist dictatorships, but not in a democratic country. So inspired by scaber Nestor and Isobel Hadley-Kamptz I now intend to help Wiehe get acquainted with the free network and Streisandeffekten . And I encourage other bloggers to do the same. The liberal voices must not be silenced by the state and capital!

And Mike - may I call you Mike? - To threaten me to remove the link, you may well call yourself? We have a lot to talk about previously.

Just wondering what this is all about. It appears to be about protests against redeveloping Slussen?

Saw other Swedish bloggers posting the video in protest of the attempt at censorship.

For some reason Google translates the name Mikael Wiehe into Elvis Costello. Weird. At first I thought this was about Elvis Costello!

From Wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikael_Wiehe):

Mikael Christian Wiehe (born April 10, 1946 in Stockholm) is a Swedish singer, multi-instrumentalist and composer. As the main songwriter and driving force of Hoola Bandoola Band he was also one of the most important people in the proggmovement.

***
On February 24, 2007, Wiehe performed at a festival in Malmö, labeled as a "solidarity party for the Cuban Revolution", which was organized by the Swedish-Cuban Association, the Revolutionary Communist Youth, the Swedish Communist Party and others. The ambassador of Cuba to Sweden, Ernesto Meléndez Bachs, also held a speech at the festival. In an interview in Kvällsposten, Wiehe said that "Cuba has the best record on human rights in the region"[1] and in an interview with Sveriges Radio he said that he would "hesitate" to label the country as a dictatorship.[2]

Another blogger talks about it here (http://blogghelvetet.be/wiehe-gillar-inte-satir-sang-till-en-sluss/).

Here's the messy Google translation into English:

A protest song against the pee-stinking ugly lock has been released today. Song to a gate of the True plong Rayman And The Elements Santesson Orchestra. Text: Sanna Rayman and Peter Santesson, Music: Elvis Costello Production: inslag.se

Sanna Rayman and Peter Santesson recently made a parody of Mikael Wiehe Song For Freedom. This was not appreciated by his production company who not only ordered Rayman and Santesson to remove the song, but also people who just linked to it! Never mind that parodies are exempt copyright ...

Streisand effect is now calling on all to spread this song as much as possible. So, friends, brothers and sisters, for now, to help spread the satire and highlight the laughter of those gray days.

Personally, I in my loneliness sit and giggle a little quiet for a Communist who now uses the capital ..... haha yea you get the picture what I mean

So, yeah, would like to know the lyrics to that song parody and/or some info on what got the commie so upset that he was trying to crack down on people linking to the YouTube. And, looking at what you've written in this thread, I thought you might have something to say about this? (BTW, I like this thread!)

What the fook!

Just saw bits of a documentary about Slussen. It is an ongoing thing in Stockholm where those in power wants to modernise the place and the local people feel it should be the same.

You find the words to the song here so just try and use google translate:

Ah, thanks! That's helpful, though google's translater isn't so good.

From the translation I gather it's a run-down, crumbing place that smells of urine, but it's being romanticized by lovers of the old welfare state who don't want anything altered from the way it was when they were born? "Now open your Locks, let salt lake flood, flood rats in city hall..." That's how the translation ends.

Yeah, a lot of words to translate and he sings with a southern swedish accent as well the old commie. These people that want to keep the place are mostly commie people living in the working class area of Söder (The south) in Stockholm. It's an awful place to be honest but the club "Debaser" is in that area and they used to have great bands and artists performing there. I never liked Stockholm in the slightest and God knows I tried to.

Swedish singer Danny Saucedo is in a spot of bother after his appearance at a tv talk show. Danny talked about his youth and how he once thought he was gay but then said that "I came up with a better idea", suggesting that it was wrong to be gay. The talk show host Malou von Sivers reacted to the comment and Danny defended himself by saying "but I have lots of gay friends".

Danny enters the swedish Eurovision contest this coming weekend. This was his entry last year:

Loreen will represent Sweden in the Eurovision Finals in Baku after winning the swedish Eurovision with the song "Euphoria". She is already tipped to win the whole thing with her powerful performance where she fills up the stage all by herself except at the end when a dancer joins her onstage.

For the second year in a row Danny Saucedo ended in second place in the swedish Eurovision song contest with his song "Amazing". The performance was perhaps worth a number one spot with the light suits and overall dance performance but a sulky Danny afterwards didn't go to the after party and was dubbed "bad loser" by the swedish public.

Hello, Urban. Great to see you posting again. Pretty sick of them to ban you just for saying that African Americans should "stand up."

They were right in doing so looking back but in all honesty I never meant to upset anyone but I think those that know me from the past understood me. I am back in a way but some posts are not published despite them not being offensive at all. I think it's because some people on here do not want me to be able to respond to some posts from other users.

As always when my local band KENT release a single or album the journos are like bees to honey. Overnight the band released a live version of their upcoming single "999". The band recorded their upcoming album in France during the winter.
Cover art inspired by egyptian hieroglyphs. Egypt who launched itself as the pyramide country of the world despite the fact that Sudan has the most pyramides.
I used to love KENT but I cannot stand them since a few years back. Sometimes when you discover that people that you do not like are into the same band it kind of makes you stop being a fan. The song is horrible and they are past 40 now so time for these old grumpy men to retire methinks.

The latest season of "Sveriges fulaste hem" (Swedens ugliest home) is well under way. It is the makeover show hosted by gay couple Simon Davies, from England, and swede Tomas Cederlund. They own the interior and design shop London W8 in Stockholm.

During the latest season of their tv show they have a clip called "Typiskt svenskt" (typical swedish) where they highlight things that are typical for swedish homes. Simon understands swedish but prefers to talk english in the show but will burst out in swedish at times and mostly when he swears or is annoyed with his partner Tomas or something that goes wrong.

Typical swedish clip:

Malmö is once again making the headlines in Sweden as a tv reporter and a local politician is attacked verbally in the street by muslim gang members during an interview about the many shooting in the city. SVT reporter Janne Josefsson was walking in the troubled area of Seved in Malmö interviewing Ilmar Reepalu, described as the strong man of Malmö after having held Malmö's top political job for many years, when two men of foreign background questioned their presence on what they described as "our street".

My final Solo post as I have realised that I have no business on a website dedicated to someone I haven't listened to in many years now and who means nothing at all to me these days. The people I liked from the chatroom days are not here it seems and I haven't got the time or will to hang about here anymore.

I wanna urge people who see posts done in my name to report it to the mods and I can only hope they will act on it. Despite having used the new anonymous posting here set up by David I would urge him to restrict the ways to post and instead set up a new identitification scheme for the people on here as many people suffer from abuse done anonymously.

I wanna thank the many people I talked to over the years here and David who made this the place to be for many years. I wish everyone all the best for the future.

Like I stated in the thread about what music people is listening to I have decided to post in this and that thread after receiving a request via email from a Solo member who kindly asked me to post in these two threads.

Tonight the swedish tv show "Let's Dance" started a new season a bit later than usual. This show goes under the name "Dancing with the stars" in the USA and "Strictly come dancing" in the UK but in Sweden they named it "Let's Dance" using the Bowie tune as intro music for the show.

In its 7th season one of the contestants is Anton Hyse'n, son of former Liverpool player Glenn Hyse'n. Anton came out of the closet last year and as a footballer admitted that he is gay.

Anton Hyse'n appeared in the BBC film "Britain's gay footballers":
