View Full Version : The Man City thread

Yes people, this place needs a thread that follows Man City and their last steps to that elusive glory at last. Finally all the talk and predictions will end and we can turn a leaf and move on as City lifts the trophy and confirms the north wests stranglehold on the Premier League.
I cannot think of a club or fans that deserve this title more than Manchester City and their fans do. Having met so many many over the years I know they have always been a very positive bunch of people who have taken setbacks like good people do and moved on. I have been sent match programmes from City fans I just happened to give my address to and shared many pints with local office workers after their working day was over talking about football.
Sadly abroad media choose to focus on the bad side of the rivalry simply because they do not get the type of banter and tongue-in-cheek humour that the area is famous for. Media in Sweden reports on this rivalry in a very serious way as if they were describing the war in the middle east. It is a fact that the vast part of the worlds football fans want to see City win this season. It is natural that after the dominance Man United have had for so many years it is exciting to see the nearest rival finally win the league.
Among United fans it is evident that there is a love for City manager Mancini or Bobby Manc as we prefer to call him. The man has nothing bad about him at all and doesn't need the bag of tricks that Mourinho needed to make Chelsea champions. Still, it is very likely that those two men will square up against each other as I personally is absolutely sure that Jose Mourinho will be the man taking over when Sir Alex packs it in.
So here it is the thread that celebrates Manchester City as they slowly but surely get nearer to their first ever Premier League championship. The scenes when it happens will be amazing and the world will watch and wonder if this is the start of a new era and if they can defend the title and add yet more silverware.
We shall see....

According to my predictions City will be clear at the top by 8 points after the next 2 games have been played. Man United will not have any of the two goalkeepers available on Tuesday night when Stoke visit because De Gea is ill (thank God) and Lindegaard left the training on Monday on crutches after hurting a foot badly. This leaves United with 3rd and 4th choice keepers Ben Amos and that polish keeper whose name I cannot spell correct and who surprisingly is still at the club.
Seems the injuries are now more of a joke than a setback and fans are now wanting the physio team to resign with immediate effect.

I just wanna point out that this is NOT an attempt to jinx City in favour for United cause I am certain that United will not even finish second. This is about celebrating City's upcoming success and build up a thread along the way filled with praise and debate about the club winning the title at last. I don't know if you people saw the documentary about ex-United player Eric Cantona but that showed how divided Manchester is and sometimes even families and how many nice City fans there are who have been going through hell over the years.
The way some of them treated Cantona as he visited their homes shows the type of great mentality and compassion that I have also met over the years despite the rivalry from City fans. Manchester City are worthy champions of the Premier League 2012!

I agree with you it would be great for the City fans.
I agree they deserve some success after the years without.
But it's nowhere near won yet.
They haven't looked that good the last few weeks,in fact some of the City players want a kick up the backside.
They look very pretty going forward, but when it comes to digging in for a result they don't seem to have the stomach for a fight.
Over the next few weeks the run of fixtures gives City the chance to pull away a bit.
But don't ever rule Utd out. They will fight right to the end as they have proved year after year.
I feel that City should do it,but what if they don't?
There is no long term base built.
I don't think the present group there have the heart to go again.
The club can of course, because it has the money to try again with a new group of players?
I'll watch the game tonight.
Goodison (tonight)and Villa park(two weeks time) are hard places to win at.
The problem is although draws are a good result at these places,City fans would see it as a loss.
They don't have the experience to realize that the trophy is not given out till May.
It's bouncing back after disappointing results is what counts.Utd are past masters at it.
Time will tell.

I think United have the long term (short term?) problem of what to do after Ferguson leaves. Uniteds ongoing success is down to having one of the best managers of all time and surely he can only have a season or two left. Either they will look in house (who is his number2?) or they will do a Chelsea and look for the most successful manager on the continent. Rumour has suggested Mourinho, but the timing would have to be right. He wants to work in Blighty but he wouldn't wait for Ferguson to retire if he became available soon.
United have been on top for so long that their inevitible decline is hard to accept.

Look, nothing lasts forever, you do not have to be a soothsayer to know that. United have had 15 years? at the top, this period of success has to pass.
Ofcourse you may be one of the religously devoted fans that brook no downside at all. If this is the case then ofcourse United will win everything for ever and I apologise for doubting the gods that are Manchester United.

You are right in many ways here but I see the win over Spurs when everything went there way as the turning point. City will not fear Everton and Villa away who have been terrible and I bet every side in the league would like to play away against those two now. You simply cannot look away from Uniteds injuries and now they don't even have their first choice keepers available.
I predict a handsome 3-0 win for City tonight and I have not decided yet but I would not be surprised if Stoke actually win tonight but it should end in a draw.

Yeah, I fear a Stoke win aswell. They are a strong team and United and so inconsistant at the moment. They really should have beat Blackburn a few weeks back. Premiership contenders do not lose at home to the bottom club.

People have been saying it is over for United for so many years now but as we look back they have had off seasons only to bounce back and win something. The challenge from City have made United better as they have more points at this stage of the season than they had at this stage last season. United had a great start that was down to City setting the standards so in that sense it has been a challenge that has been inspiring.
I feel that the difference between the squads is huge and much bigger than some suggest and that is of course in favour of City. City might break the 90 points barrier but according to my predictions of the games left they will win the league by reaching 86 points.

That's OK nobody expects you too.
Manchester United have been the most successful side in english football in the the last 20 years.
Manchester City have been taken over by an Arab.
They have spent £100's of millions on some of the best players from around the world.
Having beaten Manchester United last season in the FA cup and going on to win the cup.
The fans now expect to win the league.
They beat Manchester United 6-1 earlier in the season at Manchester Uniteds home ground.
They met again in the FA cup again a few weeks ago,but this time they were beaten 2-3
It's the first time in 40 years that Manchester City have got anywhere near winning the league and the fans think it's going to happen this year.
But history tells us that Manchester United have a nack of coming very strong at the end of the season.
Having won the league many times,Manchester United have this experience on their side.
The fixture list looks kinder to Manchester City over the next few weeks so they are hoping to build a lead up.
Again history tells us this is not always the case.
Football as played all over the world, bears no resemblance to football in America.
Proper football is played in the states, but you lot call it soccer.
Why?
Because Association football doesn't suit your TV company's.
Well that's what we're told over here.
Apparently it's very popular in the schools over there.

January 31, 2012, 06:02 PM
What is a mandorla?
I think it technically means almond in italian, but it's the vesica pisces or almond shape drawn around a religious icon in medieval art to indicate a number of things, either the birth canal man is born from, the feminine aspect of the deity depicted or an aura or transcendence or other-worldlyness. Here's (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aureola#Mandorla) wiki's take. In symbiology almond is universally a girl thing.

Haha love how a female come here and sounds like my girlfriend who sometimes comes up with weird comments that shows she knows nothing about the game and it is so cute. She does watch the games though and is often right about the outcome. She concentrates on injured players and how much time will be added on and she always guesses the right time added on.

Yeah Urban, but don't you think that the departure of Ferguson (which has to happen within the next couple of seasons) will mark the end of this period of success?
To believe a new manager will step in and they will carry on with the same success is, in my opinion, unrealistic.
Mourinho is the type of man that has showed he can take over and win it and we never know in what way a new manager might inspire the players. Our era is not onging all the time and every season but is has been onging for more than 20 years with a few blips here and there. When we fail like we will this season we are usually the most exciting to watch the season after as we always seem to bounce back. We only ever did not do that during that period when Chelsea dominated for a while but still won trophies although not the league title.
It may be unrealistic that a new manager will win as much as Fergie in that short space of time but if Mourinho gets the chance he could well win enough in quite a short space of time as he would attract players to join the club unlike Fergie who is at war with the agents and the transfer market over very personal things.
I just saw our old star striker from the 80's, Garry Birtles,:( on the Premier League channel and if that's not a bad sign then nothing is. Looks like Ben Amos will be between the sticks tonight and it's a matter of us being 5 or 6 points behind City after tonights games.
I plan to watch Uniteds game and Spurs and City as I have this extended desktop on the computer so I can show one game on the big 60 inch and the other two games on the laptop. I want english commentary tonight and the swedish channel showing the game has moved it onto a channel that is not showing it in HD which is rare and possibly a sign that they do not think much of us these days.

I use an on-line site that shows most of the games live.
I can save the streams of some games while I watch the others.
Football is the passion in my life.
I get though a lot of games each week (time permitting)
I quite often watch local football just down the road, plus go to some Oxford United home games.
I can't abide reading reports of games because they very rarely match the game I've watched.
This is how I form my views.
I've been watching for over 40 years and apart from playing for years,I also refereed for ten years up to semi pro level.
I also used to hold an FA training badge,
That of course doesn't mean I know more than anybody else but I feel my opinion carries more weight than some.
Because I or anybody else have a point of view,it doesn't automatically mean you support one club more than another.
Some are just football fans who have a preference of who they prefer to watch regularly.
All this silly so called hatred of other clubs is just that.
If your a football fan you should not hate but appreciate all levels of the game.

I agree with what you say and I love the banter and wit but violence and hate is just sick. I've never met any fans of other clubs that have been violent or rude and I always got along with other clubs' fans as we have more in common than most other people.
Just recently found streams that show it in HD which seems to be the future for online tv as well. Even when the picture sometimes isn't the best it is always good enough to be able to see a game. Football has that advantage compared to hockey

Sometimes watching the fox coverage is good.
The Americans have a different take on the game.
Sometimes they see things very differently than we do.
Sometimes it's quite refreshing.
The sky coverage gets on my nerves a little at times, trying to "big up" the match or what's going on too much.
Although the camera angles do improve the peoples watch on the game.
I find that some coverage showing the bench and people in the crowd, instead of showing the game, can an irritation at times.

Yes the producer of the game can sometimes really fook it up like they did a couple of games ago when United played and they showed loads of other things than the actual match.
What a night and here I was thinking United would be at least 6 points or more behind after tonight counting from before United played Arsenal and City played Spurs. United travel to Chelsea and won't be more than 3 points behind if they lose. That is of course a huge bonus but I still have belief in that this thread title will be a fact come May.

How many corners and free kicks did City have tonight, a million?
As soon as I moved my eyes from the tv to the laptop City had a corner of free kick or Silva was making circles in the Everton penalty area. Of course it had to be Darron Gibson popping up with a classic Gibson strike and I always liked him when he was a United player and I am a bit sad he was never given the chance.
So the referee that gave Newcastle a penalty at Old Trafford earlier this season when Ferdinand got it out for a corner was back at the stadium but this time he gave United not one but two penalties. Amazing that Chicharito took the first and scored and then Berbatov gets to take the second penalty. Don't know when we changed penalty takers like that in a game.
Everton huffed and puffed like they always do and their stop/start tactics managed to disturb City. Looking at the City results over the past couple of weeks they haven't been doing well at all.
Scholes was a joy to watch with the ball as always and Valencia was probably man of the match for yet another game and is vital to the club but like the rest he will probably get injured as well as that is what we do this season. No Nani makes United better and for the second game in a row we dominate possession and manage to keep the ball at last. Ben Amos seems more confident than the two first choice keepers together, shouting at defenders and controlling the penalty area.

Looking at the coming fixtures what will save City after this latest defeat is the fact they have very easy games when United have very tricky ones. There is no way City will drop any points against Fulham, Villa and Bolton.
United on the other hand play Chelsea away and Liverpool at home followed by Norwich away and that Norwich game is the first of two straight away games as they face Spurs away after the Norwich game. Once those games are over United have games against midlands sides West Brom and Wolves.
City will have to face Swansea away who have only lost at home once and that was against Man United. After the Swansea game City face Chelsea at home.
I would be shocked if City are not clear by at least 6 points after the next three games.

United keeper Lindegaard will be out for a month and misses the games against Chelsea, Liverpool, Norwich and Spurs. This means the nervy spaniard will be called upon unless Ben Amos gets the nod which he should after his performance on Tuesday night.
This is yet another setback for United that makes me even more sure that the title is heading to Man City.

Of course anything can happen. I just read that Fergie seems certain United can beat Chelsea on Sunday. God knows United are due one away at Chelsea after horrendous decisions by the referees in recent years.
Somehow I feel though that Chelsea will be alright on the day and beat us like they beat City.

Finally the media have won the battle against Man United regarding the keeper David De Gea as the spaniard who needs an eye operation will be in goal away to Chelsea on Sunday. Another badly handled situation by Fergie who is losing the plot fast. Looks likely he will even bring back Nani despite United keeping the ball well during the games he was out so now we will be back to giving the ball away cause of him.
Chelsea keeper Cech and Liverpool keeper Reina backing De Gea before the Sunday game and I am sure they will bring out the knives after it when another nervy display by De Gea means Man United have thrown away yet more points this season.
City will soon have Yaya Toure back and that should make the side more settled as they cruise to their first PL title. Anything other than a 5-0 win against Fulham would surprise me a lot as they look likely to improve their mighty goal difference.

Manchester United were Champions last season with 80 points.
Being as fair as I can,I see United getting 87 this year.
That's 33 points from 15 games.
I'm not in the habit of predicting individual scores but I think this is the total to win it this year.(maybe on goal difference which City have at the moment)
Be realistic on City's form over the last month what total can you see?
10 more wins out of 14 games or nine and 3 draws, see what you think.
If you say you'll win all your home games that's 21.
So you want 12 from 7 away games.
Pick your winners and draws.
Away at Villa
Away at Swansea
Away at Stoke?
Away at Arsenal
Away at Norwich
Away at Wolves
Away at Newcastle
Remember this is assuming you win all your home games(including against Utd)
It doesn't look so easy now does it.City certainly have the ability to win all 7,but honestly can you see that happening?
The pressure will mount because Utd will not give up and you know that.
I think if Balotelli get his act together,he could make the difference.
If he carries on the same way I think he'll cost City dearly.
But whatever happens the team that wins it will deserve it.
It's a big ask of Chelsea and Spurs but they will play their part and you never know with football.
45 points left to play for left to play.
Arsenal can't make 87 so I'll discount them.

Frank Lampard is back for Chelsea and all will be fine on the day. United last won there in 2002 so the 10 year anniversary will be completed tonight swedish time when United lose yet again probably after a bad decision by the ref.
Premier League logo added onto the screen right bottom corner and it is annoying as hell. In Italy they have one but manage to make a proper watermark of it so it is hardly visible. This big blob gets a life of its own when the camera goes from side to side making me seasick.

I got my 87 without results againest Chelsea,Spurs and City.
I start from the premise of winning all home games.
That's 21,then winning 4 of 8 away games.
Playing,Wolves,Wigan,Blackburn.
Then any one from the rest or points from draws.
Norwich or Sunderland will be tricky ones.
Which ever way I perm it 87 points for Utd.

For me the squad and injuries is the biggest decider and the goal difference that City have is another point at least so they are in control. They also play us at home.

Fergie chooses to place the spanish monkey in goal and this is the final proof that United do not deserve the title this season. Looks like a weak bench for Chelsea and Cahill starts instead of Terry who is out. Torres from the start as well.
Young is back for United but not match fit and so is Rooney.

Not only the drain pipes that are leaking at Stamford Bridge but the United defence as well. I was suspecting all week that the media and many other pundits out there would be wrong in thinking that Chelsea would be weak today and that United would get something from todays game.
City cruising with a 3 point gap again and a superiour goal difference. United on 4 defeats now and 6 is usually the maximum a side can afford if they wanna win the league.

It's just like I've been trying to tell you.
Never,never write Utd off.
If the game had gone on another three or four mins Utd would have won it.
It's the sign of champions.
A poor start to the 2nd half by Utd.
1 good pen given 2nd one was a bit soft.
But the one not given in the first half was very clearly a pen.
Unlike Howard Webb to bottle it.
A win at home Saturday and a visit to Villa park Sunday for City.
By rights City should win there.
Utd fans of course have seen it all before.
There'll be a few more twists yet.
It's away to Swansea that could be the first.
I always back Utd to win at home along with City.

City will be facing the weakest Villa side we have seen in a long time and maybe Fergie will call McLeish and help him sort things out cause Villa have good players that are underachieving at the moment.
Just heard Gary Neville in the studio saying United must be pleased to have closed that gap during this week as they are now 2 behind instead of 3 after the last two games. If you are 3-0 down at Chelsea and get a 3-3 draw you have to be pleased and not many sides in the world would have been able to perform such a great comeback.
Gonna look for and buy the trenchcoat Andre Villas-Boas is wearing although the brand might be different but I like the style as I will look fierce in one with my shaved head.
I disagree that we will win all our home games and expect points to be dropped as we go into the time of the season when the teams at the bottom need points.
United are in a far better position than I thought when giving them 87 points cause I thought we would lose at Arsenal and Chelsea. 2 points behind City and not 6.

Big game for United tomorrow but It was a long time since this game mattered to me in a big way. This game was bigger when United were chasing Liverpool and their 18 titles. This was the first United game I was at in February 1983. That day it was the 100th meeting between the sides. A local sports journo and Man United fan is present at this game tomorrow and as I don't like him and his views at all a bad result for United might make me smile.
City will beat Villa on Sunday without breaking any sweat as Villa must be the most underachieving side we have seen in a long time. Villa on paper have a great side but they just cannot get going at all. I predict that City extend their lead at the top to at least 4 points and maybe 5.

Surprisingly easy win for United against Liverpool today despite the late goal by Suarez creating a bit of drama. United have done well in the many top games they have been involved in of late. Two week break from the league now and City will be 2 points clear and should extend their goal difference over United with an easy win at Villa tomorrow.

Might not have been a convincing win to some but City totally dominated the game at Villa who desperately tried to keep the score down. Mancini has found the winning formula and City are now winning games they would have dropped points in before.
Never seen Robbie Keane so out of a game as he was today and Heskey getting a start might be the biggest joke in many years. Silva and Aguero will make City champions but Adam Johnson to me is the real starman and opponents just cannot handle him at all.

The fortunes have swung towards the red half.
Four points ahead, goal difference down to 3.
I hope it's not all over this early but I see the signs at City not good.
I think the manager has made some big mistakes.
When I seen Balotelli staying on the pitch and a seasoned pro like Barry being subbed.
This after Balotelli had broken a club curfew.

.
I think if Balotelli get his act together,he could make the difference.
If he carries on the same way I think he'll cost City dearly.
Tevez being welcomed back and talked about by the manager as being put back in the team when fit.
Plus the ranting and raving on the touchline does not inspire me with confidence.
On the other hand Utd are rock solid as a team.
There are not in my view playing fantastic football but are very, very efficient in what they are doing.
A see a few twists yet,I hope so,I don't want it all over with nine to play.
It's what I fear if Chelsea get a result Wednesday.

Well here we are two weeks later and it's all gone quiet over at the neighbours house.
The only sounds are of straws being clutched.
All along City have been thinking of April 30th as being the important fixture and have lost their focus.
Manchester United have just carried on doing what they do.
Digging out result after result.
It's been really interesting to watch City and how the heart has gone out of their game.
Not as interesting as watching a great club like Liverpool doing so poorly.
(poor old Kenny he looks completely at loss to understand it all)
It's not over yet of course, but wins for Utd in their remaining home games I think will be enough.
Even so I can't see United slipping up enough between now and the end.
History tells us anything can happen and Monday showed this.
Utd dominated the game but Blackburn still had chances to take the lead.
All games from now on will be hard, points will be dropped by both sides.
The big goal difference is now non existence(how did that happen)
It doesn't matter that everybody is now backing Utd because SAF will not allow Utd to get complacent.
Despite a fantastic goal last week from Balotelli he is appearing more and more to be a liability.
What odds on him losing it at Arsenal and being sent off.
I got 10-1 four weeks ago.
You can't get decent odds this week.
Tomorrow will be great to watch.
And maybe my run of good luck will continue with a nice win bet.

I thinks Balotelli's season is over.
The FA should act on his earlier challenge as well.
So all in all he should get at least 4 game maybe 5 game ban.
Then to cap it all strolling of the pitch with still two mins to go.
City were really poor today and I thought Arsenal played really well.

City back in the race and looking at the fixtures they have the advantage.
Not sure about that.
Thankfully a result that opens the race up a bit.
City's next two games are away from home.
Norwich are no push overs at Carrow road a lot of teams have found that.
Wolves should be a pushover, but teams playing for pride can be difficult.
The key to setting a great finish will be a City win then United slipping up at home against Villa.
I feel City must win Saturday then it's up to United to show they want to be Champions.
Home against Everton won't be easy at all.
The key to that game lies in the cup semi final results.
You never know how a team reacts to losing/winning a semi final.
As to the last three games.
The City v United game could yet still be important.
City Away to Newcastle is a tough game.
But I think United away at Sunderland is just as tough.
So what do I think?
Well based on Utd winning their three home games, then picking up at least two points maybe three/four from their last two away games .
United should win it.
I feel City need to take Full points from all their remaining games including United.
Anything less won't be enough.
If they do that, then they will be worthy champions.
I said months ago 87 points should be enough to win it this season,I've not changed my mind.

Well no big surprise in the Utd game.
Utd never really had to break sweat.
Another soft penalty given?
When will defenders learn?
Don't put your legs out when a player goes past you.
Young went down easy, but what did you except him to do.
It's another conversation but I'm fed up with it.
All players are doing it,going down far to easy.
I don't think it would have made no difference Villa offered very little in attack.
They gave away a very poor 2nd.
From then on it was a formality.
What next?
Well Utd play first at home to Everton who will want to do well after going out of the cup.
City at Wolves I can't see anything but a win for City despite their poor away record.
Then on to the big one.
Well the big one for City.
If nothing changes going into the game(five point lead) One point will be enough for Utd.
I can't then see them losing both their last two games.
I'll feel a little sorry for City because some of their football has been great and they would be worthy Champions.
Even so,it's hard now to see anything but another title for Utd.
We can hope for a twist to take it to the last day.

We City fans know Moyes is always up Fergie's arse but it's time the Toffee's refused to roll over and get stuffed and put up a decent fight for once.
City will run up a cricket score against Wolves, then stuff the rags the following week like we did at the swamp 1-6.
If the rags slip up against Everton or Swansea (we know they wont against Slumberland with Richardson, O' Shea, Brown, Bardsley and Campbell on the books) then City will pounce and win it on goals. The beautiful irony of the 1-6 being the goal difference that counts ;)

This weekend will defo swing it in City's favour. Everton will park the bus on front of goal against United and I can even see an away win. United never perform well in early kick offs due to Rooney and the lads having to force pasta down them for breakfast.
Meantime City will score 5 or 6 at Wolves and they will win the derby so if United draw Everton they will be 3 ahead of City when they play the derby. City winning means they will be on the same point and City will have a massive goal difference advantage. At this point it would not surprise me if City win the league on goal difference but something tells me they will win it on points.
United blew their title chances at Wigan where just a point could have made all the difference.

Title decider??
I'm not sure.
I thinks a City win is necessary for them.
For Utd a draw would be fine.
I wonder how the teams will set up.
I think Utd might approach the game like they do when they go to Arsenal and Liverpool.
On their day Man Utd can defend well if it's in their mind set.
But at home City have been unstoppable.
Yes a few "lucky results"Sunderland and Spurs.
But on the whole have won most games at home pretty easy.
Andre Marriner is the official, not a bad choice.

You can never be sure with Citys away form what will happen at Newcastle, I think a win will seal it.
I can't see QPR getting any sort of a result at City next week.
Utd have had their chance I feel, but you can never be sure.
If City lose then a win today and not get beat at Sunderland will win it.
I thinks because of the way Utd have slipped lately I want City to do it.
But you can never say for sure, not the way this season has gone.

As a neutral, living in Manchester, I couldn't care who wins the league - part of me thinks it would be nice to see City win it for the first time in living memory, but then again they have only got where they are because of oil money from the middle east, so it can hardly be said that they deserve it ... but you could say this about any of the top teams - all foreign owned, mainly foreign players...
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the league, the only competition that matters to me is the League One Play offs - fingers crossed that Huddersfield can finally drag themselves out of league one...

Where do City and Utd fans come from? Light blue touch paper and retreat.... http://menmedia.co.uk/manchestereveningnews/sport/football/s/1492123_manchester-derby-map-men-survey-reveals-where-city-and-united-fans-really-come-from
As a neutral, living in Manchester, I couldn't care who wins the league - part of me thinks it would be nice to see City win it for the first time in living memory, but then again they have only got where they are because of oil money from the middle east, so it can hardly be said that they deserve it ... but you could say this about any of the top teams - all foreign owned, mainly foreign players...
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the league, the only competition that matters to me is the League One Play offs - fingers crossed that Huddersfield can finally drag themselves out of league one...

That unscientific survey of the Evening News was hijacked by mischievous fans of both sides. The United side pretended to be Stockport Blues, and the City fans paraded themselves as Salford Reds.
I was just amazed that the Manchester Evening News was read in Surrey!!!

Hello JJ,
How nice of you to pop up just when it seems your beloved club are about to end all those years of hurt!
Well, today is the day.
I am still right here by the way, whether we win, draw a lose...
Just remember Newcastle away is not an easy game, and neither is Sunderland away for us next week.
I shall be watching the citeh match at a pub in Salford before I make my way to OT.
May the best team win.
Come on United!!! :D
Ha ha - I have only just popped up recently because the new anonymous postings allow (ahem) banned individuals such as myself the opportunity to send messages!!
COME ON CITY (and Swansea)

It is funny you should mention it but for me the only true United fan to ever have been on here was from Sweden. Whatever happened he took it the right way and always looked forward and realised how blessed he was for having seen his club win so much.
Just look at how he started this thread just to say it is time for City to win it now and I really respect him for that.
Hello Urban, how are you?

A great performance from City at Newcastle.
A win for Utd so all square just the goal difference separating the two sides.
I can't see anything but a City win next week and with it the title.
But stranger things have happened.
We shall see.

What the hell do I have to do to get a response from the rags on Morrissey-solo????
Are you all the new bitters????
Bloody hell, the rags have won everything over the past 2 decades, but I always stood my ground and verbally rebuked the rags and the rag media machine.
But now the noisey neighbours are on the brink...... you can't find a rag anywhere for love nor money.
Should City not be crowned Champions on Sunday, I bet you'll all be falling over each other to have a laugh at my expense. But you know what? I shall be here to face every single comment and defend the Blues to the hilt regardless.
You are an embarrassment to your club. Have you thrown in the towel already? Got your ''Fergie Out'' rant for 606 / Talk Sport ready?
Bunch of spoilt brats, bred on success, bred on arrogance and not a bone of humility within you.
There is a new order in town now. Get used to not only being not the best team in the country, but not even the best team in Manchester (we'll ignore the geographical aspects of that comment for now ;)

Wow, where did all that come from talk about new bitters seems to be plenty of old bitter alive and kicking, there's nothing over yet Sparky's got your number and he's set to get a result for his club, United, and when it happens there'll be now laughing or rebuking it's just the natural order, the way it is.
"Fergie Out" are you sure? they say no ones bigger than the club but Fergies got to be close, he is United. You should pray that the prancing premadonna youv'e got this week for a manager should have half the passion and commitment, or maybe not who knows where he'll be by August?
Best team in the country also seems a bit optimistic considering the closeness of the situation, but still you where on a rant so we'll ignore that. The old geography chestnut seems a bit rum as well considering you live on different bloody continent, but hey ho we're getting used to inconsistencies by now.
All this said I have enjoyed this season, twists and turns have made it the most interesting season in years, we've missed you around here to, your ban must be over get it sorted out and be back here for August cause your lot wo'nt be in the top 3 end of next season.

It wasn't really a rant..... just trying to provoke a response out of someone ;)
On Talk Sport after the derby, there were rags on there saying it was time for Fergie to go! Honest!
As for my ban, no idea when it is up, last time I was banned (there have been a large number of them lol) it said the ban would never be lifted! Either way, I have no intention of registering. I'm just here for this thread. No need to be a member if I can post like I am now.

As a United fan I think you were right to have a rant and I can agree with a few things you said. I think those that want Fergie out realises he is old and wants a younger manager that has new ideas especially when United play in Europe.
The good part about City now winning that title is that we can stop talk about will they or won't they. Been a special season but not great in my mind due to it having so many anonymous sides that did not contribute to the league at all and at least 3 of them are going down.
City have been through hell and back and their hardcore fans that have been through it all deserve to win it. I dunno if Cty winning it and Mancini staying is great or not for United but somehow I suspect it could be. Once City lift the trophy the pressure is off United as City winning have finally happened and things move on.
Would not mind it one bit if that trophy stays in town for years to come maybe going like a jo-jo between Etihad and Old Trafford.
When Roman came with his cash to Chelsea it spelt the end for Arsenal as a title winning club and now City getting there spells the end for Chelsea as serious title contenders. Manchester ruled the music scene and now it rules the football world and if you support any of the sides in town you must feel that is pretty special.
The only club to have defended the title apart from United doing it over and over again is Chelsea back in 2006 which only proves how hard it is. I prefer City as champions ahead of Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool to name just three. If United are moaning they should feel ashamed as we went one past Liverpool which in itself was always the goal.

Hello again JJ,
We are still right here mate.
The thing is, there isn't all that much to say just now.
There is still one match to be played, and if as everyone expects, citeh go on to lift the trophy, they will be worthy champions and I'll be the first person to extend my congratulations.
Let's be fair, whichever team wins it will be worthy winners. There hasn't been much in it throughout the season and it is quite likely that for the first time in over 20 years the league will be decided on goal difference.
Just remember it has been a weird season full of surprises though... :D

Chelsea are the kings of England and Europe and unlucky City won the league in 1968 only for United to win the European Cup days later and now Chelsea does the same to totally overshadow City like United overshadowed your FA Cup win last year by winning the league just hours before the cup final.
Laura's idol Ashley Cole is a CL champion and Chelsea have done what Arsenal haven't and are now officially the kings of London. Tough luck Spurs but they and City play in the same bad luck league.

Oh the bitterness is creeping in!! In no way has Chelsea ''overshadowed'' City's league title. Well done Chelsea - the Kings of Europe yes, but not England ;)
Also, given that united won the PL last year before City won the cup, it was indeed City who stole the thunder from under the rags glory. And that silly little banner was taken down ha ha ha.

Ouch that one hit a weak spot!
Congratulations to Chelsea for becoming the first London side to win that trophy which completely overshadowed what City did. I guess whoever you support away from those two you feel that Chelsea is a more genuine club than City. I bet Arsenal must be feel a bit down now as they have officially lost the number one spot as a London club.
I support United but the Chelsea win completely saved the season for me and put City back in place and history repeated itself once again as an english side wins the CL when City win the league. You couldn't write the script.

That is the most hilarious thing I've ever read from a football fan - saved your season? HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA. Still, nevermind, there's always the Community Shield to look at until August.....
Strange thing is, I know lots of City fans (myself included) who actually wanted Chelsea to win (for one reason to piss Spurs fans and 'Arry off!), so please, tell me once more... if so many of us wanted a Chelsea win, exactly how did it rain on our parade?
In all the last week has been a fantastic advert for English football - both wins celebrated side by side by many neutrals as well as both clubs fans too. It's just the ungracious rags from Stretford who are witnessing the fall of an old empire and the rise in another that are becoming bitter and twisted ;)

Well well,I much as I congratulate City on winning the league.
I hardly see it as fall of empire.
City won the FA cup 1-0 against Stoke hardly a big thing.
They won the League on goal difference, hardly a crushing victory.
When I see City win three leagues in a row by more than goal difference,or a double,or a treble.
Reach Champions league finals two years in the row, while retaining the league.
Then maybe we can start thinking about City being a major force.
They are certainly a good side, but lets not get carried away.
I remember the great Leeds side of the late 60's/70's
But take a look what they actually won over the few years.
Two leagues in five years one FA cup and the fairs cup
City have a very long way to go to even begin to class themselves as a great side.

Amazing to see City fans struggling to come to terms with the amazing success Chelsea have achieved. Once a club wins something major there are always a bigger title to be won that reminds people that they haven't really achieved anything yet.
For years United were reminded of that when they didn't win CL so it was only when they did that twice that they really could be regarded as a successful club. I just read the entire thread and the thread starter really knows his shit.

City won the league and they think they are the new rulers of this world, they'll be waving their shirts above their heads next season while chanting 'we are the champions, champions of Europe'.

OK, I've changed my mind again......
Sorry, but where have you seen City fans ''struggling to come to terms with the amazing success Chelsea have achieved''???
As for the other comments, of course we have ''only won'' one FA Cup and the League within the last 12 months - but look at Mancini's record at Inter, no league wins for 19 years and he wins three on the bounce. Seven cups in 4 years. You don't think that can be repeated? City will increase their squad shopping at Harrods, united will struggle to get into Aldi..... relying on the likes of Scholes, Giggs, Wio etc.... their days are well behind them.
So City ''only won the league on points'', and ''only beat Stoke 1-0''. So united's last Champions League victory was ''only won on penalties''? In fact, united have yet to win a European Cup inside 90 minutes ;) and for all ''their history'' have won it only once more than Nottingham Forest.
We can all quote the past as much as we want to suit our point of view, however, I'm very much looking forward to the future and in someway with a tinge of sadness having had a season ticket from 1980, through the lows and the lower..... but having now moved far away right as the trophies have started turning up, I can watch from afar.....
united will be around for a few more years, but this year their reputation in Europe was shattered and their crown in both Manchester and England knocked off.
Fergie said united would never be underdogs in Manchester in his lifetime..... he must be on a life support machine as I type.....

This boy is in pain, God knows what he will be like when City go back to being what they always were. Hope I will not be around him then.
That's right, avoid commenting on every point I made.
I've been a City fan since the day I was born in 1963 (3rd generation Moss Side born and bred family).
I'm in pain?? What will I be like if we go back to what we always were?
I was there in relegation to Luton in 83 and West Ham in 87. I was there in relegation in 96 at the height of the Swales out campaign and in 98 when we ended up in division 3. I went to every game in division 3, including the play off against Gillingham! And relegation again in 2001.
You know what, if City went back there again, I'd do exactly then what I did back in 98/99 - support the Blues unconditionally. How many glory hunting rags would say the same?
Look at united over the past few years..... from sell outs way in advance and waiting lists on season tickets to open sale on practically most home games.
Where ever I have worked in Manchester, the rags I've worked with, trotting out the same excuses such as ''would love to go but can't get a ticket mate''. Well now they can get a ticket mate and they still don't go!
Back to the subject of ''pain'' - If this is pain, long may it last because I'm lovin' it!
All I've seen on here are anonymous rags accusing me of being in pain and having Chelsea piss on my chips - when nothing could be further from the truth. The reality is, united fans are seething that City won the league, Chelsea won the European Cup and FA Cup and EVEN Liverpool won the League Cup.... whilst united won fuck all. Oh, sorry, they won the Community Shield (yes I was there)..... the day Rooney tweeted that united had ''taught City a lesson''. Yes Wayne. Well done. Polish that shield because City or Chelsea will be collecting it in August.
Rags are trying desperately to make something of Chelsea winning the European Cup ruining our day, rather than looking far more closer to home and admit what is staring them right in the face - the fact that City were the better team over the season, fucked them off the park with an aggregate of 7-1 and are Champions of England and Wales 2011 / 12.
Wake up and smell the Holts bitter ;)

Someone needs to handle the fact that Chelsea stole the show big time and against Bayern just like United in 1999. Winning something once is like having never won it and it looks like Chelsea will not only rain on your parade this summer but again next season.
Looking at the past seasons United and Chelsea have been there to win it and now no-one won the league Chelsea helped United out by reminding City of what it was like in 1968 when City won the league the last time. City fans are gutted and crying at the fact that they were once again overshadowed when they finally won something.

Please tell me where your evidence is of City fans being gutted and crying over Chelsea winning the CL? I don't see it anywhere???? As I said ''I wanted Chelsea to win it, so why would I be gutted or even thinking they have rained on our parade''?
You are inventing this to compensate your own rag failures.
So... provide the evidence, show me a link to where one City fan is pissed off that Chelsea won the CL. Put up, or shut up.

I would be the last person to decry somebody's love and passion for their club.
In fact it's something to be admired.
Manchester United have them sort of fans as well.(along with part timers)
I know numerous fans from the 70's/80's who love Utd with as much passion as JJ loves City
It's possible this might be City's time to shine.
I was just pointing out that it's very early days.
It has to be pointed out of course that City fans have taken a lot of stick from Utd fans over the years.
Consequently they relish their chance to hit back in some way.
Chelsea winning the Champions league is a great result for England and the Premier league.
But it has to be said the way they won it does football no credit.
At least it can be said that for most of the season City played good football and some of the best attacking football.
I do think City fans need to get their feet on the ground and not get too carried away with themselves.
Lets see where you are in five years times.
If they want to be compared to Utd this is what I think they need to do.
Win at least Three more leagues.Next year for starters.
At least one double and the champions league.
All in the next five years.
If they can do something like that, then I think the City fans can start to crow a bit.
At the moment all this anti Utd,we are the greatest stuff shows no class.
JJ is excused because he lives amongst it and needs all the love he can get.:lbf::thumb:

Yes, correct all the way. Like I pointed out earlier, Mancini when at Inter won 3 titles on the bounce having gone 19 year without. I can see that happening at City (not arrogance, just that we can only add to the quality of the squad (yes I know, because the money is there) and if Mancini gets the balance right (all the money in the world doesn't mean the balance is right) it is going to be an interesting ride for us Blues :)

I was speaking to a utd fan at the weekend.
Although he was pissed off at City winning the league he was more pissed off Utd let it slip right at the end.
The league was theirs to win and he felt that if Utd had done that, the loss to City would have really set them back.
I don't agree with that point of view.
But I can't see the finished article at City.
When key players were missing City seemed to struggle.
Utd seemed to overcome this better.
In saying that if Rooney picked up a bad one he would have been really missed at Utd.

We missed Yaya when he was in the African Cup of Nations - and there is another one next January too!!!!!!
The main concern was when Kompany was suspended / injured and especially when Lescott was out too.
Had united not given up the lead at Everton, then I do believe they would have gone on to win the title, so to a degree they did ''lose it'' - though the title is won over 38 games.
Had City lost it that way, it wouldn't have been a too bigger blow than had we not beaten QPR.
I think City ''losing'' it that way (against QPR) would have had a mental impact on a number of players, maybe the management too. Certainly the fans would be going through all the ''typical City'' thoughts we have spent a lifetime cursing!
It's always said just winning that first one, just crossing that line the first time is the hardest. That's not to say it will be easy next season, but as with the FA Cup last season, the monkey is off the back and the mentality of the players becomes one of positivity and confidence in their ability as a team.
Things can only get better :thumb:

Yes I know what you mean.
Like all the ones leaving the QPR game before it was finished and missing all the sheer joy them last two goals gave.
There are always fans who leave before the end for all sorts of reasons, but them ones are the ones you don't want.
As to the general mood in the squad, that's been hidden a bit because of the win.
Otherwise there would have been some inquests being held against certain players and their non team attitude.
There are still I feel players at City who haven't quite got the team mentality yet.
I felt the losses at Chelsea and Arsenal showed this.
There are on the other hand some really good team players.
It's a tricky balance keeping top players happy when they are not playing.

I agree with you about the Arsenal game, but not the Chelsea game. First 25 mins was amongst the best of the season. A dodgy penalty and a debatable sending off cost us the game that night.
I have said recently many times, how Balotelli's sending off was a blessing in disguise. Won all three games he was banned for and then he was on the bench for the rags game (don't think he came on, can't recall), not on the bench at all against Newcastle and came on for the remaining minutes against QPR.
We'll never know, of course, how we would have fared had Tevez been with us all season - or indeed how we would have fared had he not come back! He certainly appeared to kick start the 'come back'.
Personally, I'd like to see Tevez stay. On the field he has been the best player I have seen in a City shirt. I did see Colin Bell maybe a handful of times, but at the age of 9 - 11 I wasn't fully able to appreciate his quality! As for Mario..... I can't make my mind up.... quarter of me wants him next season, three quarters says he is a distraction we can do without....

I felt in the Chelsea game that after the first 25 which I agree City moved the ball lovely and maybe should have scored more.
But when the real battle started 2nd half one or two players "went missing"
It was a cold winter night with the rain belting down and a couple of City players didn't "fancy it"much.
Everything about Balotelli has been said.
At this moment I think your stuck with him.(who'd want to buy him)
If more players come in then maybe, just maybe he'll finally understand he's not the one man show.
As to Tevez his ability is not in doubt.
But without doubt his attitude is.
When I seen him cupping his hands at Alex(when wanting a new contract at Old Trafford) I thought to myself, you won't be there next year son.
As to Colin Bell he was everything that is said about him.
A thoroughbred of a player who just ghosted around the field.
He had a wonderful touch and his behaviour and attitude was spot on.
He was a great loss to the England and the game.
If ever there was a reason to hate Man u that would be a good reason.
If I remember correctly it was a tackle in a Utd game that put him out.
I think it was a league cup game that City won 4-0
I might be mistaken but it doesn't happen often:D:D

City stole the headlines for about 5 days but now the headlines and talk is all about Chelsea whose success makes what City achieved pale into insignificance. Chelsea won it for the first time as the first London club to win the trophy and they won the FA Cup as well.
It is going to be interesting to see Chelsea with all their experience take on City at Wembley a week before the start of the new season. Chelsea are the Kings of Europe and deep down all City fans wanted Bayern to win like they did in 1999 cause they are gutted that Chelsea stole all the medias attention.
City didn't prove enough this season and were incredibly lucky and are still to win a league title convincingly and they have never defended a league title.

Martin 'bastard' Buchan.
You are right about loss to England too - the season before England stuffed Scotland 5-1 and looking good. Colin Bell and Gerry Francis ran the show. The following season both were seriously injured and England once again failed to qualify for the quarter finals of the Euro Nations cup for 1976 and the World Cup 78. The pair were very much missed.

puffers - that's a bit harsh on the rags that left early at the 1-6. They clearly had alarm bells ringing in their heads about what was happening to their mighty team - and thought it was a fire alarm test at the stadium and left accordingly ;)
In the meantime, I see these shirts are going quite cheap in the sales......

The hammering from City as you like to put it happened in the last minutes of the game.
Utd played the game with ten men for the last half an hour.
Up until the sending off Utd dominated the game.
That's despite conceding a goal from one of City's rare attacks.
Even after Aguero scored a second Utd still looked in the game.
They had a couple of good chances to get back into the game the Aguero goal with 20 to go sealed the match.
In the last few minutes Utd lost all shape pushing the game and conceded the last three goals
The result was a hammering but the game wasn't really like that at all.
Quite true Thousands did leave when the game was "lost" at 3-1 with a minute to go.
A great result and very demoralising to Utd but hardly a hammering when looked at in detail.
That's the way I seen it anyway.
It's not the first time the result doesn't reflect the true picture of the game.
But of course in the end it came back to haunt Utd,with the goal difference making the difference at the end of the season.

He condemned the fans and bookies that celebrated in advance and still feel they were rightly punished for it. Urban never wears kits or t-shirts like most hooligans out there. They wear Fila and Sergio Tacchini and Stone Island to name just 3 brands.
I have been told Urban was a tennis player up until his early teens so Fila and Sergio are natural brands for him to wear. He recently left Sweden for a lenghty boat cruise with his girlfriend and some of his many friends from all his travels to Manchester including a current United player and his wife.

For a rag, you seem very obsessed with City having our chips pissed on, and now having to play at Villa Park instead of Wembley.
Good - ask any City fan if they'd rather travel 100 miles to Brum or 200 to London and they'll tell you Brum. Cheaper all round, including beer in the pubs!
Of course, it would piss off the rags had they been in the Charity Shield (I refuse to call it by it's newer name) as Wembley is 20 mins walk for most of them :thumb:
As for your ''City lose money as Chelsea qualify for CL'', surely your headline should be ''City, rags and Arsenal lose money''? But your obsession about City shows through. But lets look at it from another angle.
Billionaire owned City will lose £3m as a result.
£500m plus heavily in debt rags will lose £1.5m as a result.
Now tell me who will be hit hardest by Chelsea's entry in the CL. The club with the pockets bulging or the club with deep, empty holes in their pockets?
City's owners can just increase the price of petrol and recoup the money when rags fill their cars up to travel to Owed Trafford.
The Glazer's can just increase the price of tickets ;)

And I'm really sure that the Swedish lotto representative would be calling someone at 11pm...... good luck with the postcard.
Nah you got me wrong. He got the call earlier in the day BEFORE the derby and that made him not even bother with watching the game. I think he felt that winning on Lotto would mean that United must lose or something. I would have felt the same and he spent the evening in a fancy restaurant with his girlfriend and who can blame him?
He claims he is not even following them like he used to cause he hasn't got the time to watch them all the time. Before he met his current girlfriend he had a long distance relationship with a massive City fan and she was some sort of model that used to spend her time off at his place. This is when it gets weird cause Urban is quite well known among some local United fans and I have met those that claim that she wasn't a model and was in fact the daughter of Ian Curtis, Natalie Curtis, who is a photographer.
I did some research myself online and apparently she used to have a lot of pictures up on her website taken in Sweden, mostly quite arty black and white pictures, and in one of the pictures she posed with a swedish lad and under it it just said "Urban". I have even tried to send her emails to try and get the full story but haven't heard a word from her. These pictures taken in Sweden were removed from her website around the time they apparently split up.
I could go on and on and it may all be a lie or a myth or whatever but people I trust and meet on a daily basis says it is true and they are not even fascinated by this which is natural cause they haven't been on here for years and in the old chatroom and that.

Which time when Urban killed himself was that? There's been a couple of occasions
I've seen a picture of him too, outside the lads club, rag scarf round his neck (sadly not tight enough and swinging from a lampost.....) :thumb:

We've all seen it and he was dressed in all black and no scarf

Paddy I can't take you seriously, you remind me too much of Urban's other character "peter"....remember the one who told us all when Urban "killed himself"?
Seen pictures of Urbs too...dashing he looked, top to toe in denim!
Tiddlydee!
Black denim yes, that is right, and I think the picture was from some time in the 90's. 1996, 1997?
A copy of the very spot and pose Moz had at Salford Lads Club.

Why do I get the impression that you are jealous of his lifestyle somehow?
I know Laura was with a lad that loved someone else in London and kept going to the City games in the vain hope he would fall in love with her some day. I bet all she got when City scored that winner was a hug and a kiss on the cheek.

It has always surprised me over the years how quick people are to write United off. It is as if the past during these Premier League years haven't taught them a lesson at all. When Chelsea suddenly got rich and found the right manager it seemed as United were a thing of the past. Trouble was though that United followed up 3 seasons where they didn't win the league by winning it 3 times on the trot to hammer home yet another convincing message to the rest.
Looking at the past season there wasn't much in it and City and United both surrendered 8 point leads but United did it last and towards the end of the season. The difference in injuries that hit both squads was huge and in favour of City so the fact that United only lost on goal difference is in itself amazing.
You don't have to be a United fan to defend them and point out that in the past they have always bounced back and with several new players now having a season under their belt United could well be up for something major in the coming season. I think people predicting their downfall and the end of their era do this cause they want that to happen and not because they believe that will be the case.
Personally I think United will be more determined than ever to do well next season as they must feel they were hard done by and when they feel like that you know someone is going to pay for it. In any case if United would fail next season the fact is that when they finally add another league title again then all they have won before suddenly becomes worth more than for the other few clubs that haven't won it that many times.
City is the only club that have been relegated as champions in the past. They have won it but they haven't shown they can cope with being champions and the feeling at the club is still that there is a lot going on all the time that tends to influence things in a bad way.

Blah blah blah dial a united cliche
We've heard them all over the past few months
''united are always better in the 2nd half''
''united's experience will give them the advantage''
''City have never been in this position before''
''never write united off''
blah blah - well all those self perpetuating myths were debunked last week! yet now you come out with ''City haven't shown they can cope with being champions''!!!!!!! Give is a chance!!!! We only won it 8 days ago!!!!!!!
Oh, and bringing up the fact that in 1938 we got relegated a year after winning the league is really playing on Mancini's mind........
Now excuse me whilst I go and rip up a picture of Frank Lampard in my disgust at Chelsea pissing on my chips

I have asked you about 4 times to show me ''the facts'' (seeing as that's what you claim to deal in) that City fans were silenced and gutted. Show me message board links, or any other evidence. You haven't and you cant. You are using this myth to hide behind your own complete horror that City, Chelsea and even your ''biggest rivals'' Liverpool managed to win some silverware this season. united won fuck all and rather than allow that FACT sink in, you clutch at straws and make up imaginary things to deflect your own teams failures this past season.
Ask yourself this..... which set of fans was more peeved in the last 2 weeks.... City fans (having won the PL) watching Chelsea win the CL, or rags, having won FUCK ALL, watching both City's and Chelsea's parade. Try as hard as you can to either convince yourself it is City fans or attempt to wind me up, deep down you know the truth, I know the truth and everyone knows the truth.
Now do one rag boy.

Overnight I got an email from Urban who seemed thrilled he foresaw City winning the league. He's not been visiting Solo since his last post in this thread. He is on the biggest cruise ship in the world I think, named "The World", and I got a link to see where it was currently located in the world but couldn't work it out. He wanted to say hello to all Soloists he knows and especially the City fans on here. He wrote that it was ok for me to post on here from the email so I chose parts of it:
"Hullo Paddy!
Dunno where the fook we are at the moment cause I woke up late and had to send you an email. Some famous people onboard and last night me and the lads had a night on our own minus the women and when we had dinner guess who was sat table next to ours?
David Morrissey the actor.
The first thing David does when he saw our jaws drop a bit was to turn to Phil Jones saying "You play for Man United don't you?"
LOL fooking LOL
Anyway he and his wife or whatever moved over to our table and I ordered in this magnum bottle of bubbly to celebrate this great moment. He told us a lot about various films we'd all seen him in but no-one asked him about Steven cause I think we all felt that would be a bit too private and disrespectful as the man himself is a big star in our eyes at least.
Paddy, I will send you away on a little treat as you couldn't make it this time and that includes your lovely girlfriend of course so tell her to start packing or buy new outfits cause she will fooking need them"
Well Solo, it seems Urban is having a hell of a time onboard The World.

Well the City fans can feel hard done to all they like.
They had more of the game and maybe deserved a winner.
But as always when it matters Utd seem to find the goals required.
I foresee another frantic end to the season.
With City now out of Europe it will be interesting to see hope Utd cope.
Neither side has been playing that well this season so I feel the best is still to come from both teams.
If last year taught us anything writing any teams off this early is stupid.
But it has to be said the team to beat is Manchester United yet again.

It simply is amazing that United still are the team to beat as you say. On another note a world wide audience could see the old myth about City fans being more friendly than United fans die once and for all. I felt the City fans were bad losers and very small minded and a disgrace to the greatest league in the world.
After what was a classic game yet again it was a shame to see these so called fans behave like children and not being up for it or able to take on the stewards or the United fans and just settling for throwing coins. I think it is safe to say that City's firm lost a lot of credibility yesterday and they are today the laughing stock for all serious football fans out there.
Had it been United fans doing that United would have played Grimsby next season way down the league system or even just outside of it. City have all the pressure on them now cause only true champions defend their title, something a club like Arsenal never have done. Season after season people reckon a side that go out of a competition and therefor get more time to recover will benefit from it but it is never the case for some strange reason. In Uniteds case they have always been best when fighting at all fronts which for me is the league, the Champions League and the FA Cup.

The fact is that City fans have launched themselves for decades now as the best fans ever saying they are better people and so on. I guess it is easy to describe oneself that way if one gets to judge oneself and not others doing it for you. On the day I just felt the City fans made themselves look very stupid and just like you have pointed out by your comment the City fans cannot even come up with their own actions and instead copied an old incident. You could tell the City fans wanted to storm the pitch and cause havoc like they were Millwall on speed but they did not have the guts to. Now we read about a sorry 21 year old with a silly girlish hat on his head apologising to the world.
In my view I'd have respect for City's firm had they indeed started a proper riot but all we saw were fat lazy mothers boys not up for it and that is I'm afraid where english football is now. These kids are raised sitting down playing computer games and the only exercise they get is a handjob from visiting websites their mother warned them not to visit. These mothers boys are not the future for the game or for the country and they are a disgrace to themselves and their club.
English fans gets killed in italian bars cause they cannot fooking fight and that worries me a lot. It is time they wised up and went out running and had a workout and dropped the drugs and alcohol and pudding and crisps and chips. We miss you old Britannia, look what your proud sons turned themselves into.

Following Uniteds dropped points at Spurs on Sunday, signalling the start of another meltdown by the Reds, I thought it was time to update this place with a new thread celebrating Man City defending their title from last season. Obvious to me how their big squad and machine like performances have yet again grinded all competition down for another season. City may play a quite monotone style where they attack in waves and the confidence is there for the world to see.
With just 5 points behind United and 15 games to play, City have a lot easier fixtures coming up compared to United. Even if United would do the double over City, which would be like an 8 point lead now, United still have to take 35 points from the other 14 games to win the title a point ahead of City. That simply will not happen for the reason that United so far have played way above what they really are capable of and that will not last.
Teams are lining up to beat United or take points off them and I see United dropping all or 2 points in the following remaining games:
Fulham away
Everton home
West Ham away
Sunderland away
Stoke away
Arsenal away
Chelsea home
City have just 3 difficult games left if you leave out the derby at United. They face Everton and Spurs away and play Chelsea at home. That means United have 7 tricky games to play compared to 3 for City. It is game over and the world knows it. City are defending champions 2013!

United still have to play QPR away and will not win there. I am sure that this weekend will see Fulham beat United and City beating Liverpool quite comfortably so next week the gap will be down to 4 points.

We all went though the same nonsense last season.
Predicting results is a waste of time.
The one certain in football is the uncertain.
Otherwise what's the point in watching.
42 points to play for.
A 7 point lead at this point is nothing.

Shit, we're 9 points clear but I just know we will fook it up again. Still, it's been quite an entertaining season thus far even though the league is so much weaker now with so many sides that do not really deserve to play at the top flight.

The one certain in football is Man Utd will always be on top of the Premiership or a close second!
Ditto Barca and Real Madrid.
Man City's record against Liverpool is woeful.. I think it's 2 wins in their last 20 games. The title is Manures again, the only ray of hope is the possibility of the equally detestable Real trouncing them which, given their current self-inflicted malaise, is looking unlikely.
And Mancini should do the honourable thing when they concede the title in the derby match.

Well let's be fair, at least that's one less of citys three difficult games they have left to play, so if you look at it positively with only 2 awkward games left they've nearly won the league, as obvious to me as it must be to the original anonymous poster. Who must be so grateful he stayed anonymous when he first posted it.

It was 8 points with just 6 games remaining last season. It's twice as many games to play this time and Everton will not lose at United so it will be 9 or 10 points between United and City with 12 games to play. United will fook it up believe you me.

I think the next five games will decide the title.
If Utd get at least ten points before the city match(at home)
I think they'll see it out.
An 86 point total should be enough this year.
That's 21 from a possible 36.
City can only get 89 if they win all their games(possible but not likely)
So Utd to drop 15 points in 12 games(possible but not likely)
I watched the Everton game,Everton are a good side but Utd had a determination about them.
Chelsea at home is looking like a big game for City.
Away to Everton will not be easy.
Anything less than 12 points from their next five and I think then it's over.
Of course the unexpected can happen.
Injury's to key players, bad calls from the refs.
But all the same???

From a neutrals view of this thread I must give the United fans some credit for sticking up for their side and continuing to come here and comment even when their side weren't on top. I really feel the City fans should show more guts and do the same now or are they all sore losers even before nothing has been decided?
Just an observation from someone who is not a fan of any club.

I think this is right. If United win away at Sunderland on the 30 March, their next home game is the Manchester Derby. If they win that they will win the Premiership as City can't catch United.
For United to win the Manchester Derby, at Old Trafford and to clinch the Premiership on the same day...oh that would be more than perfect. Stuff dreams of made of.

Although it is mathematically possible I doubt very much it will happen that way.
City will need to lose at home to Newcastle, unlikely.
Utd at Sunderland is not an easy game at all.
It's hard at this stage to see anything other than Utd taking the title.
But anybody who knows football, should know stranger things have happened.
Arsenal away,Chelsea at home,Stoke away,West Ham away.
None of these are easy games.
I watched the Chelsea cup match and Utd looked well out of sorts.
They were not at their best against Reading either.
No matter whatever happens at Sunderland or the City match.
Three more wins and I think the title is going to Utd.
This is without looking at City and what they do.

United need 13 points to be clear. If City lose to Newcastle and the derby then they could still possibly win the league by winning out but they'd have to make up a goal differential of more than 13. Still, City have had the better of the derby lately and I expect the title will go down to the final weeks again. -MR
