"Calm down dear"

I know some people think it's terribly PC.
I just think it was very patronizing.
But it's easy to say things and regret it after.
But I'm not so sure our "baby David"
Prime minister understands why some people will not see it as a joke.
I showed the clip to my wife without comment. She is not political at all.Her reaction said it all to me.
"cheeky B****rd"
"I bet his wife will have something to say to him when he gets home"

That's VERY patronizing (or patronising, in this case). His wife should backhand him.

I loved the MP's response though, she said, "I've been patronised by much better people than the Prime Minister." Ha.

mars I'm not trying to tempt you into a row at all.
Could you please explain why you think the word "patronising"is more appropriate in this case than the word "patronizing"?
I did look up both spellings before choosing.

Or if you can explain the difference between an adjective and a verb within the context I used?
It's a long time since I was at school.:D

There's no difference in meaning only spelling - patronising in Britannia and patronizing in the U.S. I was just trying to be inclusive.

P.S. That pint in your sig pic looks very tempting.

Cheers for that.
I didn't think I'd got it wrong from my side of the ocean.
It all puts our David in a bad light which ever way you spell it.
That pint is well drunk.
I keep it there to remind me of the priorities of life.
