I can't believe people would actually bitch about the cat! Like Morrissey would harm an animal. Those true fans who have followed him know what he stands for and that animal cruelty is a issue that he cares deeply about.
Lets really analyse the poster shall we
1- the cat is obviously being held by someone hence why the cat appears half on half off the screen.

Or
2- the cat isn't actually really there..just photo shopped

Or for those who really don't know Morrissey - maybe the cat is being held on wires above morrisseys head and he is just standing under the cat ( I somehow think NOT)

But like the poster- the claws are out again and those anonymous comments if u have something to say..why hide behind anonymous- that's cowardly.

Give him a break -: he's amazing!!

Are you crazy? Moz LOVES animals. He respects them and will never make ANYTHING to hurt them. Have you ever read "Animal Liberation"? Well, you will learn something about how people manipulate animals (and I'm pretty sure that a pic like that is not considered "cruelty")

So, read something and come back later, honey :)

The “cat” photos were taken by Jake Walters and the first was published with an interview in the Guardian last September. If it’s photoshopped then he did a real good job of the shadows.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2010/sep/03/morrissey-simon-armitage-interview

The version used for the poster turned up when the article was reprinted a month later in Der Freitag

http://fuckyeahmoz.tumblr.com/post/1310564032/morrissey-cat-jake-walters-der-freitag

It has been suggested that the cat, Fanny, lives with Jake. Maybe she likes sitting on heads, maybe she just likes sitting on Morrissey’s head.

A picture may paint a thousand words but most people still haven’t got the sense to Google before offering up an opinion.

I've never heard anything more ridiculous than people suggesting Morrissey has committed animal cruelty! Firstly, there's a good chance it's photoshopped. If not, then maybe it was a cat who just liked to explore (I came across a cat only the other day who tried to get up onto my shoulders without any encouragement). Believe me, if a cat didn't want to do something, it would probably soon let you know by sinking it's teeth and claws into you.

Considering Morrissey wrote an article not so long ago about the terrible way in which the queens guards wear bearskin hats, I can't help but think that he was making a statement by using this photo, i.e. look at this cute animal on my head......would you brutally kill it any turn it into headwear?? Just a thought.... :)

Well, maybe he's only got three legs...;)

The Morrissey/cat on the head photos are so adorable. I'm glad he decided to use this one. I hope, if he tours the USA, he'll use that image here as well. It would be awesome on a t-shirt. The font is nice too. I loved the Refusal font, but this one really grabs me...so to speak.

The cat is an extension of his hair in 2 ways.
1 its grey and black just like his ever greying hair.
2 it's destroying his quiff

Morrissey is saying I'm getting old. My dark brown hair and my quiff may have gone but so what? It's the cats and animals that matter.

MY cats have all been strays that came to live at my place because they must've wanted to. Cats can sense things about us that we can't sense about each other...I am willing to bet you don't have this attraction to animals or humans, I bet you have a problem with EVERYTHING!!
So, people can't have animals in their environments now?
And I suppose you're saying the only way humans can take up with cats is if we move to theirs, instead of the other way around. I'm sure this will be real popular with the "people-hating" cats in the cat neighbourhoods, but, at least you can't be held accountable for your outlandish people owning policies for cats. Posting anonymously like this.
I can't believe I have wasted my time on this, but it obviously winds me up.
I know how to fix the problem, we can all commit mass suicide to truly free all animals.

If...and it's a big if...Morrissey managed to get a cat to stand on his head it's because the cat WANTED to. On the other hand they could have used Photoshop (I know...shock, horror, etc. Morrissey fakes photo scandal. Alert the tabloids immediately!)

Oh and I do "have" cats and I do hope the person who said they deserved everything that's coming to them "because they're carnivores" was being sarky. Or merely a moron. Who knows on this site?
The cats don't stand on my head...however they may stomp all over me while I'm asleep but it's just their way of getting back at me for daring to take them from their rightful place in the wild and compelling them to live a life of domesticity.

I hate that image and I'm shocked by it. It humiliates an animal who - if the picture's real - must have been afraid.
It's a picture that communicates nothing except that animals are ours to mock and manipulate however we like.

It is photo shop you dickhead

That is ridiculous. Morrissey loves animals and would never allow an animal to be frightened for the sake of having a picture taken with him. You are clearly not a Morrissey fan as you have no understanding of his humour.

Aye, right. Do you have a cat? You make animal rights ludicrous by making this sort of remark. Get a grip and concentrate on actual cruelty

erm, are we saying that if it IS real, then it is cruel because cats are clearly terrified of heights and are incapable of balancing.

GROW UP you very very silly people.

As someone who owns cats, one of whom is a bit odd, I know two things:

1) If a cat is scared, the claws come out. If it's on your head, this is also true. He would not be sitting quite so serenely if it had its claws out.
2) Sometimes, they like to be on heads. Specifically, if they are odd cats.

The person saying this is cruelty is pathetic. My cat sits on my shoulders, back & would be walking across my head to get somewhere bcz we got it like that after 12 years- does it show him choking a cat? Stepping on it? Nope.. Get a f 'ing set of glasses

I agree with Irene. The picture is outrageous and Moz should be ashamed of himself. He clearly has no respect for that cat as his equal.
