I'll be there, but have 80 protesters to look after. A quick pint before getting the coach home is about the best I can expect.

Are you off to the Academy 2 tonight for Billy Bragg?

You mean the Trade Union march? You need to put a comma after 'march' in the title so it makes sense.

My partner is going on a coach from Manchester with a coach full of union members. I'll be staying at home looking after our daughter.

How PC is my family? The woman of the house is fighting for the union while I stay at home and do women's' work :p

Hope there is a really good turn out - shame the Tories will be out of the city and in their country constituencies :(

Don't wait up Dave.

I'm putting together the final arrangements for 2 coach loads. We have to park at Wembley Stadium and travel in via train/underground. They'll never all make it back to the coaches on time. The last coach I took down were on the booze at 6.45am!

:tears:

Your best bet is Feeling Gloomy - always a lot of Morrissey/Smiths on the set-list and not a bad night.

I was suprised that no one had mentioned anything about the march against spending cuts yesterday (then again I did take a rather cursery look on the forum). I went on it with a friend...along with somewhere between 200,000 and 500,000 people. The march itself was really friendly, I was worried about bringing my son with me to begin with but there were so many other little kids there it stopped bothering me before long. The police were behaving brilliantly all the time I was there, they didn't get involved when they didn't need to.

Sadly I bet most of the press will be focusing on the violence after the main protest. I really can't stand the way that every protest has to degenerrate into violence because it gives the people you are demonstrating against a reason to dismiss your cause. So far as I've seen the media have been pretty good at distancing the trouble from the main event but we'll see what happens...

The march has been briefly discussed http://www.morrissey-solo.com/threads/113551-March-for-the-alternative-London-Mar-26th

Well done to everyone who went and took part in the largest public demonstration since the anti war demonstration in 2003.

Forget the tiny minority who spoiled it at the end - it's inevitable and cannot be avoided at such a large demo - thankfully the press and the Police are acknowledging that the two protest were seperate. The fact the several hundred thousand people - old and young, black and white, urban and rural, north and south etc - went to protest peacefully, to tell this unelected coalition that they have no right to rail road through their drastic cuts in such a rapid fashion fills me with pride - and hope that the ConDems will be kicked out at the first opportunity.

Unfortunately, I was at home looking after my daughter while my partner went to the march, so I was an armchair observer yesterday; here are two of my favourite banners from a day spent kiddie-wrangling and net-surfing;
