Sweeter than maple syrup and at times more mysterious than Ogopogo, Canada's finest pop-punk export CHIXDIGGIT!, are back with their latest masterpieces, Safeways Here We Come. With nearly six years having passed since their last release the anticipation for new material is at a crescendo and Safeways is exactly what fans have been pining for. Every track on Safeways Here We come is quintessential CHIXDIGGIT!. Each song bristles with the trademark up tempo, straight forward, guitar driven, pop punk sound that CHIX have become famous for. As always, not only does KJ (singer/guitarist) belt out absolutely unforgettable melodies but the topical content of the album is a varied, intriguing, and downright cheeky as ever. His knack for turning everyday events and situations into hilarious lyrics, peppered with social commentary, is uncanny. From a song about an en vogue hair style dubbed the 'rat', to a comedic refrain about disliking a friend s dog. Safeways has it all and of course it is delivered in KJ's unmistakable screechy tenor. Safeways Here We Come encompasses everything that CHIXDIGGIT! Fans could ever want in an album, providing a welcome reprieve from all the over-conceptualized, genre-specific music littering the punk scene today, and once again proving that sometimes simple, fast, and fun is all you need to make a perfect album.

I dunno. I'm listening to it right now, and it's just some by-the-numbers pop-punk, nothing to write home about. But sometimes that's cool, and I like it. Puts me in the mood for spring as winter drags on too long. Plus, there's that Smiths-inspired album title for you completists.

My fave track is "I Hate Basketball".

Sorta hits the spot after what Leboob James did to the Cleveland Cavaliers. :lbf:

On 12/2/10, the Cavs were 7-11 and the Heat were 12-8 when Leboob returned to Cleveland.

The bulk of the pathetic Cavs roster decided to hug and kiss Leboob instead of hard-fouling him. I think I spotted Anderson Varejao reaching into Leboob's shorts to pet him in a special place.

Since that night, the Heat blasted off towards the top of the standings while the Cavs have only won one game.

NBA Central Division standings on 2/11/11
Chicago 35-16 .686 Won 1
Indiana 22-28 .440 Won 1
Milwaukee 20-31 .392 Lost 1
Detroit 20-33 .377 Won 1
Cleveland 8-45 .151 Lost 26

And, over in the Southeast Division:

Miami 38-14 .731

Ahhh, Cleveland. I love ya. Longest losing streak in NBA history!

It's cool to make history any which way, ain't it?

God, I hate basketball.

(Except for the #1 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes! F the NBA!)

But, what a difference a year makes:

Cleveland Nabs "Most Miserable" Honors (http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503983_162-6219713-503983.html)

Miami was only the 6th most miserable city.

This year, Miami is the second (http://www.forbes.com/2011/02/02/stockton-miami-cleveland-business-washington-miserable-cities_slide_3.html), while Cleveland is only the tenth most miserable place in America!

No. 2 Miami, Fla.
The sun and lack of a state income tax are the only things keeping Miami out of the top spot. Foreclosures hit one in 14 homes last year. Corruption is also off the charts, with 404 government officials convicted of crimes this decade in South Florida.

See also: Cleveland no longer the most miserable city in America, Forbes says (http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2011/02/cleveland_no_longer_the_most_m.html)

Forbes.com said, "Last year's most miserable city drops back thanks to a housing market that never overheated and therefore hasn't crashed like many other metros."

But the site added, "The weather is lousy, corruption persistent and it's a tortured sports market, with no championships since 1964. LeBron James' departure delivered the latest cruel blow last summer. "

No, we're liberated from Leboob, and it looks like he took some of the misery down south with him. :)

Dave, why'd you delete your reply? Isn't that taking the Morrissey-led boycott of Canada a little far?
