I've heard that Saint Morrissey seems to be a good book to read about his history. I don't know if anyone else has read any biographies on him, but I'd be interested to know the best biographes that have been written.

No news of it coming out yet, apart from that excerpt that came out a few months ago. The only book I have is "The Smith:songs that saved your life"

Yeah, I liked that book...But it didn't talk much about The Smiths as mates and what they got up too. I see Joyce sneaking to the pubs for a drink and escape Morrissey for a while with Rourke if I'm honest haha

Mozipedia has got to be the easiest to read and most informative. Severed Alliance is the most thorough. The others blur into each other - I couldn't tell the differences.

If that's the sort of thing you want I'd go for The Severed Alliance, it's tough going but it's v. Smiths-heavy. I read one page of Saint Morrissey and got pissed off with it, I'll have another bash at it one day I'm sure. Morrissey The Albums is another good one, loads of detail but very easy to read.

Haha ya but just the one drink though thats all they could afford. My relutance to buy a Morrissey biography would be how reliable the person or source is telling the story

I hear reviews saying the Saint Morrissey book bashes him than praises him!
Yeah, I doubt Rourke has much money since he's now with Smith tributes, poor bloke...Does Morrissey still hate him?

Dunno, he might telll us in his autobiography!:D Would be harsh though seeing as he settled for less out of court unlike Joyce

Morrissey should have settled it out as a friend...He wasn't a great band mate doing what he did. I see where Joyce came from. If I hadn't got money that I was promised, I'd sue the basterd until I got it! What Morrissey should have done is kept Gannon, Rourke and Joyce to gig with so that they could still get money touring with him. If you have never listened to 88 Wolverhampton then I recommend it. Gannon does some pretty good Lead Guitar.

Does it say much about Morrissey's life or is it much on the song?

I might actually buy the Alliance book, but I wondering if it's just a waste of money...why the hell buy it if Morrissey's gonna write one himself?

Ahh it has...We were only laughing about it, seems a bit wired someone would write about Manchester sites to visit and only jot Smiths gig venues....Seems baffling to me haha! Have you read The Severed Alliance by any chance Jukebox Jury?

I read Saint Morrissey. It's very flowery, an entertaining book to read but not sure how accurate it is.

Or I could buy both of them, when I've finished reading my Bowie Biography....It's wired Morrissey fans don't mind Bowie fans. But some Bowie fans despise Morrissey fans, wired!

Er, all the Morrissey gig venues are in there too - in the second edition;). When the first edition came out in 2002, Morrissey had only played at the Apollo (which is in there:thumb:)
Yes read Sev Alliance. Thought it was a good account of the band (and Morrissey's background (if it's correct, of course!) though the Irish history lesson dragged way too long.

I'm not a bandwagon supporter, I've been supporting them since I was four so feck off! And its not my fault that the two best players to come out of Cork played for United. Stephen Ireland can feck off too refusing to play for his country. Ahem, no Keane references please :p

It's not technically a bio, but I still love Len Brown's Meetings with Morrissey. I believe it's the only book out there written by someone who has actually met and interviewed Morrissey - and I came away liking Moz even more after reading it.
And of course there's Morrissey's own essay "The Bleak Moor Lies" found in The Dark Monarch, which is a glimpse of his forthcoming biography. And it's fantastic :guitar:
