View Full Version : Morrissey interview

I saw Morrissey interviewed a few days ago (I'm a photographer). He seemed very happy and was looking forward to later this year.
Plans to keep us all entertained are under consideration, management is apparantly 'a problem that persists'.

Hi. Not trying to be mysterious or evasive but there is an embargo on the interview until officially announced. I can tell you it was in snowy Manchester. I also travelled with the group (Moz, reporter and couple of minions) from Altrincham to Manchester in a people carrier.
The snow was thick and the journey was fraught.
Mozzy chose not to accept lift back to Alty with us, instead he wandered off very gingerly up Deansgate away from Urbis. Not sure if he went on the big wheel.
For a 'fan' like myself it was a fantastic interview and there was lots of unknown info revealed.
A picture of Frank Sidebottom in Urbis sparked the following quip from M. "I knew him when he was just a Freshie. He wasn't such a big head back then."
Personally I laughed my socks off. If you know who Frank is, or rather what he is, you will understand.

On 6 March 2007, in an episode of The Podge and Rodge Show, Sidebottom appeared in their 'Sham-Rock' talent section, performing a medley of songs by The Smiths. He received an overall score of 22 points from judges James Nesbitt and Glenda Gilson, putting him in 1st place for all the series' acts so far.
Does anyone have a link to this clip, I'd like to see that!

Hi Callboy, great to hear a bit of good news and nice to hear our man was in good spirits. We will look forward to the interview and your pics. Please post again on here when you are 'allowed' to tell us more.
Can you tell us what Moz was wearing? I only hope he had his wellies on if he was making his own way back home through the snow:) Maybe he fancied a bit of shopping in the sales!
I liked Mozzer's Frank Sidebottom quip... My hubby and I were supposed to be seeing him in October when he was due to support John Cooper Clarke at the Ruby Lounge, but it was postponed until November when it was postponed again until 23rd January...no doubt it will be postponed again then especially if the snow is still around!

Hello. Before I get anybody into trouble I want to say that the link does not lead to any article by the reporter on this mission.
I think it may be the musings of another who was there, that's all.
A full professionally written article will eventually leap forward, but that's all I know.
Sorry if this caused confusion.

callboy is actually still giving us details.
Callboy may well have been there. He/she has shared a few snippets, which have been appreciated, :) though they reveal little more than Callboy enjoyed some time working professionally with his/her hero.
It's a pity he/she decided to go off in a huff, GONE FOR GOOD, and I'LL STAY WITH MY OWN KIND is regrettable, though not unexpected. Callboy has crossed swords with the Mods before, and used the tired old "So-low", "you don't deserve him" "unintelligent" stuff reminiscent of old aquaintances.
However, I get the impression total confidentiality is usually required, and the sharing of even insignificant details could possibly have raised some anxieties about Callboy's reliability, among those preoccupied with such things (as it has here).
I look forward to the pictures and words and expect Callboy will treasure his/her happy memories. :)

It's just nonsense. The quote about who Morrissey thinks should win Big Brother sealed it. The writer is obviously watching BB and just wanted to crowbar his own opinion in. About his level.
There's no way a journalist would allow a photographer to scoop an exclusive interview on a crappy blog, or even employ a wedding photographer come to that.

New post...
Here (http://cotefield.wordpress.com/).
"In the beginning
January 25, 2010 by cotefield
The best part of my job is listening. Sometimes though it can be difficult, such as when the interviewer says to Sid “How is life in Los Angeles these days?”
Because as any fule know Sid vacated his LA movie star home a long time ago and is now blowing around the world as takes his fancy.
I had no tape recorder or note-pad to refer to for direct quotes, they will appear elsewhere at a later date. But it was something like this “You will have to ask someone who lives there. How is your life in Zanzibar?”
I hardly need say that the interviewer lives in Oxford, and would probably have trouble spelling Zanzibar (sorry P, but you know I love you really.)
Sid then explained how he loves Rome, London and many other ‘flesh-pots of the world’ but Manchester will always be part of him ‘just like my left ear.. and my right one but less so.” Don’t ask me.
At around this point Sid’s friend appeared carrying a tray from a local food shop. Sid examined the contents and commented that he must have picked up the wrong tray.. “this appears to be covered in glue” (I think it was some kind of salad dressing.) The friend said that Sid had eaten the same meal another day, with the dressing. “Are you sure? You’re not mixing me up with someone else are you? Your mother perhaps?”
The next part of this tale has been edited by another, and I need to tidy it up. There is lots more, and it will be here soon. I am not a writer and am simply trying to give a taste of the day to anyone who might be interested. I know I would be. One is doing one’s best."

And some more...
"more of the beginning
January 25, 2010
Looking perfect and with the distinct whiff of Gucci Pour Homme about his person (well, that’s what I think it was) Sid was in a good mood and was in total control of the proceedings. There is a confidence about him that makes people do things his way, possibly because the alternative is not to do them at all.
The conversation about places of the world continued, again I have nothing but my memory to refer to. The full, fascinating account will be published on real paper and sold for profit in a few weeks to coincide with an exciting announcement (no, it’s not the Ruttles reforming). At which point those of you reading this tatty account will understand why I was allowed to let you peek at a few small details.
“New York is very interesting. I have, at times, considered unfurling my tent there. I very definately would like to put on some kind of event in New York. If only to tell the grandchildren…”
“What do I mean by event? I don’t really know, but somebody will have a good idea and I’ll steal it.”"

Getting back with marr would be excellent, has morrissey ever said this would never happen? I know a Smiths reunion is out the question but i cant recall his thought on a Marr/Moz reunion. I think it would have to be done properly though, i.e the right venues and the right intentions. I still think the best time would have been Moz's 50th birthday as it would have been not for the money and more for the fans and them two personally

Yes, I think so too.
But I can't see the fun in it. Someone is very bored. Somone has got too much time to go on with this and never give up.
One thing's for sure, I will never understand other people.

It's just evil to play with our (at least my) wishful thinking, that we might get some info. Hoping that someone might know something.
Too often I just find that I'm disappointed with people. So much lies and dishonesty. I'll never understand lying. People lie so much that no one will believe me when I say that I never lie. Either I don't say anything or I tell the truth.

If it is real, and I'm witholding judgement, perhaps he wasn't 'bragging'.
Maybe he was excited and wanted to share this with the people he thought would be as excited as he was.
I know that I would feel the same. And if, in the process, his ego gets stroked, well what the hell. This person might be bursting to tell us all about it because he knows we want to know.
But if it's a hoax I'm first in line to flick his ears.

I see your point. I think it was the low opinion Callboy expressed of Solo people in his/her visits, before the "interview" thread was posted, that inclined me to doubt Callboy's motivations in this case.
I suppose, if I chose, I could be more charitable.
However, being surprised by good news might have brought greater enjoyment than a strung-out farce, in the long run.

Timing is important I suppose. I bloody hope.

the latest one...........
I think we all accept tht the Ruttles will never get back together, but is there a chance the songwriting partnership from the band could ever work together again.
The answer was something like this.
"Yes. There's every chance. It would have to be away from the glare of prying eyes, but I wouldn't say no. In fact we have recently communicated more than we did for many years. We're both very happy and both a lot more relaxed about such things. It might not happen, but it could."
Do you both feel the same way about this?

Since the Tate article there have been rumours and speculation. This thread is not the first of it.
Great, if it's true.
"you'll be sorry" is a pathetic attempt at self-justification when no hard evidence has been offered to substantiate the rumour. Are we really supposed to have faith in someone who had proved themself disorganised, moody and unreliable? Whether the interview happened or not, it doesn't excuse Callboys relentless attention-seeking.
Has he/she behaved professionally, with maturity? I think not.

The content of the museum was always crap. The gift shop was ok - always a copy of "Morrissey's Manchester" for sale :thumb:. and the cafe usually had some good veggie stuff.
I always smiled walking past the glass that simply reads "Manchester. So much to answer for"

Gatley is a small village down the road from me. Near Cheadle. I can't for the life of me think where in Gatley they would go. There's nothing there apart from a few shops, a few nasty pubs and an old run down picture house that's been closed for quite a few years. Platt fields is quite a bit further on towards Manchester city centre. There is a building there that they call the toast rack. At least I think that is Platt fields!

Somebody forgot to tell the owners of the boarded-up cinema in Gatley that we were coming. Not a good start to the day.
So, instead we were directed to a building now owned by the Jehovah’s Witnesses. It used to be a cinema in the 60s and retains the original interior. It was stunning and the pictures look amazing.
Will describe day and give more info asap, just too busy for last few days. This whole project changes by the hour and it’s sometimes hard to find out exactly what’s going on. TBC.

I was wondering what would come next... The cinema that he referred to in Gatley (The Tatton) is almost derelict. Only the facade remains, the auditorium was demolished a few years ago.

The photo on the blog is the Kingdom Hall in Northenden, which was formerly the ABC Cinema.

In August, as with every August, the Royal Albert Hall is predominantly booked out solid by the BBC Proms season. If that helps anybody sort the wheat of truth from the chaff of hoax?

Its hard to tell if its a hoax due to the fact that no one actually knows

True, but i remember a few years back another member of the forums announced that morrissey would be playing 6 nights at the roundhouse, way before anything official was announced, people said it was a hoax/false and it came true so i generally now just let things develop untill i know for certain.

That's a little different to some bozo inventing 3/4 different meetings over a period of two months ostensibly to provide one magazine interview. If interviews really were done that slowly no one would ever release any records! :D

I know it's different but in the context I meant it was exactly the same, just rumours. I am not saying I believe this person but at the same time I don't disbelieve neither. Just wait and see what happens, if it is false then so be it, if it's true then great

For those interested, last year's Proms season listings...
http://www.bbc.co.uk/proms/2009/whatson/season/?week4
... as you can see, in August at the Albert Hall there isn't room to swing a classically-trained cat. (Unless that Ringleader cover was a secret clue that Morrissey is now embarking on a new career as a violinist?)
So poor research on the part of the hoax squad. Maybe there'll be more "dates" to come:
3 April - The River Thames, under Putney Bridge
10 April - Aintree Race Course
21 June - Wimbledon, Centre Court
22 June - Wimbledon, Centre Court
etc, etc...

Just cause it said august doesnt actually mean all the gigs will be august, Moz could be doing a few festivals aswell in august and then the tour might run into september.
Im not backing this person writing the "hoax" up or anything but just to not jump the gun either way and just sit on the fence

Defo a hoax!! I admit now, apparently now playing Blackburn king georgea hall, I have a feeling that the person has just looked at my comments on here and thought as I was giving them a bit of slack he would reward me with this.
Although the venue has now said that they are only going to start showing top class
gigs and comediens in the future, no more cover bands and crap

I think he watches this forum very closely. Two recent examples ~ When he said 'Sid' was meeting in Gatley, someone posted that there was nowt there but an old closed cinema. Next day he's meeting at the old cinema in Gatley. He posts an August date at RAH, someone on here points out it's Proms season, then suddenly its Aug-Sep dates. It may even be someone we know
Again I ask ~ Why? Who the hell could be arsed?
Answer: It's the internet, dim-ass...

Apparantly photos are being taken at Urbis today at 10am. Biullshit. And yet... Im still commenting, so there must be some sort of odd hope that this is true...

I trust Uncleskinny and hold his posts in high-regard and he thought--as did many who may not admit it now--it might NOT be a hoax.
And yes, revenge... obviously Callboy did not enjoy his short time here on the forums and it's not much of a stretch to think he might have cooked this up to wind forum member up--which you could argue he did since 11 pages later, it's still being discussed.
