I know this is quite difficult and the choices we make will likely be affected by the mood we are in at the time of selection, however this is what I would go with:

Late Night, Maudlin Street
Driving Your Girlfriend Home
We'll Let You Know
Speedway
The Operation
Trouble Loves Me
You Know I Couldn't Last
Dear God Please Help Me
Something Is Squeezing My Skull

I listened to 'Kill Uncle' a couple of nights ago for the first time in years. It's not as bad as one remembers, as long as one doesn't go into it expecting a life-changing, contentment-wrecking feast of interpersonal anguish and revelatory solopsism.

Or something.

Anyway, I was just going to say 'Mute Witness' is splendid, as is 'Driving Your WAG home' - but what about 'Asian Rut?' It's rather strangely appealing.

Wow, odd choice. I think that song isn't bad, but I think most other people generally dislike it. Better than Pigsty? You Have Killed Me? The Youngest Was the Most Loved? Far-Off Places?

Really? As you can see, I don't pay much attention to what other people think.

I LOVE the song. It's just such an odd sentiment for Morrissey. Self-deprecating and apparently CONTENT, as if for a while he moved beyond himself. It does confuse me because I don't know (because he never tells us anything) what was different in his life when he wrote that song, but it serves to intrigue me further. I have this hopeless hope that if I keep listening to it I'll get more insight. And I like the strident music. I do like the other tracks, especially Far-Off Places and Pigsty, but Born keeps dragging me back.

Break Up The Family
Mute Witness (or Tony The Pony if we're allowed to pick from the US edition)
The National Front Disco
Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself
Do Your Best & Don't Worry

To Me You Are A Work Of Art
One Day Goodbye Will Be Farewell.

While I'm here, I'm gonna do least favourite too:

Margaret On A Guillotine

Used To Be A Sweet Boy
Dagenham Dave

Very true. :)

Viva Hate- 'Late Night, Maudlin Street'

Kill Uncle- I'm torn between 'Our Frank' and 'Mute Witness'. At the moment I'm leaning towards the latter.

Your Arsenal- 'Seasick, Yet Still Docked'

Vauxhall and I- My all-time favourite (both from this album and full-stop) is 'Now My Heart Is Full', but I also adore 'Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself'.

Southpaw Grammar- 'Reader Meet Author'

Maladjusted- Easy. 'Maladjusted'. Although since buying the reissue I have grown very fond of 'I Can Have Both'

You Are The Quarry- At the moment it's 'You Know I Couldn't Last'.

Ringleader of the Tormentors- 'On The Streets I Ran', but often I'm more in the mood for 'Life Is A Pigsty' or 'In The Future When All's Well'.

Years Of Refusal- At the moment I'm completely in love with 'Mama'. However, 'It's Not Your Birthday Anymore' and 'I'm OK By Myself' are also outstanding. I rank many of the songs from YOR very highly on my all-time favourites list.

Viva Hate - Suedehead - First track I ever heard from the Man back in 1988 - Got me hooked for life.
Kill Uncle - King Leer - This song never fails to put a smile on my face, funny lyrics, great vocals.
Your Arsenal - Seasick, Yet Still Docked - One of my all time favorites, just perfect.
Vauxhall & I - Spring-Heeled Jim - La La La La La La, love it to pieces, oh and that bass line...!!
Southpaw Grammar - Southpaw - It could last 21mn I would not get bored. Very personal lyrics from Morrissey, the band sounds great.
Maladjusted - Ambitious Outsiders - So underrated, I believe it's Morrissey's favorite track off the album, well it's mine too.
You Are The Quarry - I have Forgiven Jesus - The vocals are brilliant, I relate to the lyrics and I also love the video.
Ringleader Of The Tormentors - Dear God, Please Help Me - Ambitious track, great vocal melody, amazingly produced.
Years Of Refusal - I'm throwing My Arms Around Paris - Perfect pop song, short, well delivered, has a Smiths feel to it.

Ringleader: In the future...
Years Of Refusal: Mama
Swords: Teenage dad on his estate

I've always considered Bona Drag an album. The same could be said of Swords, in the end, when it is bought by a new fan in 2020.

I really should have included BD and Swords as I actually see them both as 'proper albums' (perhaps because I didn't know many of the songs before I owned them). So here it is:

Bona Drag- At the moment it's 'Lucky Lisp' but it's very often beaten by 'Disappointed'

Swords- A tie between 'Friday Mourning' and 'My Dearest Love', although I can't fault many of the tracks on this compilation.

I agree, they both ought to be included. Arguably "The World of Morrissey" too.

BD: November Spawned a Monster
WoM: Sister I'm a Poet
S: My Dearest Love

I'm actually listening to Ringleader (At Last I Am Born) now, It's probably my favourite album of his, It's weird because I've been listening to a lot of The Fall the past few months, but it's so good coming back to listening to The Smiths and Morrissey after a couple of months and hearing them with fresh ears again, you realise and appreciate it more and more each time when you give Moz a well earned listen to.

Oh he's brilliant innie!?

A few tough decisions to make there, but here goes:

Viva Hate: Suedehead
Kill Uncle: Our Frank
Your Arsenal: Seasick, yet still docked
Vauxhall & I: I am hated for loving
Southpaw Grammar: Boy Racer (or from the 2009 Redux, Nobody loves us)
Maladjusted: Alma Matters
You Are The Quarry: How could anybody possibly know how I feel
Ringleader of the Tormentors: In the future when all's well
Year Of Refusal: It's not your birthday anymore

No least favourite list because I can't help but associate "least favourite" with "dislike" (however illogical that may be) and I honestly don't dislike any Morrissey songs.

Very true.

And my least favourites (not necessarily disliked)...

Viva Hate- 'Margaret on the Guillotine'
Kill Uncle- 'Found Found Found'
Your Arsenal-'You're the One for Me, Fatty'
Vauxhall and I- 'Used to be a Sweet Boy'
Southpaw Grammar- 'Dagenham Dave'
Maladjusted- 'He Cried' either that or 'Roy's Keen'
You Are the Quarry- 'I'm Not Sorry'
Ringleader of the Tormentors- 'To Me You Are A Work of Art'
Years of Refusal- 'Sorry Doesn't Help'

Very true.

Revised for my current favourites as it changes all the time...

VH- Still 'Late Night, Maudlin Street'

BD- Probably either 'Yes, I Am Blind' or 'November Spawned A Monster', however there are many songs I really love on BD. And yes, I do class it as a 'proper' album.

KU- 'Mute Witness'/'There Is A Place...'/'The Harsh Truth of the Camera Eye' depending on my mood. I feel I may be in a minority with the latter.

YA- This is a very hard one, but 'Seasick'.

VAI- 'Now My Heart Is Full'. Always.

SG- 'Reader Meet Author' on the original, 'Nobody Loves Us' on the reissue.

Maladjusted- 'Maladjusted'/'Trouble Loves Me' on the original and reissue, again it depends on my mood.

YATQ- 'You Know I Couldn't Last'

ROTT- Again, extremely difficult. I think perhaps it's now 'I'll Never Be Anybody's Hero Now', but Ringleader is one of my favourite albums so it's very hard to pick.

YOR- This is like choosing between children for me. I just can't pick one, two or even three.

And my least favourites. I don't actually actively dislike the majority of these, but it wouldn't bother me if they hadn't been on the albums in the first place.

VH- 'Bengali In Platforms'.

BD- 'The Last of the Famous International Playboys'

KU- 'Found Found Found' (one exception to the note above )

YA- 'You're The One For Me, Fatty'

VAI- 'Used To Be A Sweet Boy'

SG- 'Dagenham Dave'

Maladjusted- 'Roy's Keen'. Either that or 'Now I Am A Was' on the reissue.

YATQ- 'All The Lazy Dykes'

ROTT- There actually isn't a single track I'd want to lose from this album- all of them add to the atmosphere, which I think is one of its strengths. However, I'm not really enamoured of 'I Just Want To See The Boy Happy'.

YOR- 'Sorry Doesn't Help'

Wow, that's a tough one! I'm gonna give it a go though:

Viva Hate: Suedehead
Kill Uncle: Sing your Life for now, but I haven't listened to this album very thoroughly to be honest so this isn't a definite answer.
Your Arse n'all: National Front Disco/Seasick/Tomorrow :D
Vauxhall and I: Speedway
Southpaw Grammar: Reader Meets Author
Maladjusted: Alma Matters???
You are the Quarry: Irish Blood, English Heart/ Come Back to Camden (if the lyrics weren't as amazingly fantastically moving as they are I wouldn't love this one as much as I do because musically it isn't that exciting, but the lyrics are amazingly fantastically moving SO!)
Ringleader of the Tormentors: This is another one that I haven't listened to very thoroughly (I know, I'm bad) but for now, You Have Killed Me
Years of Refusal: Paris/Birthday. I'm abbreviating now because I'm lazy :p
