For those that may be interessted.. I found a crumpled list on a fag packet I'd done a few weeks ago.. so here goes, something for the weekend.. It reads;

White Stripes (Red Blood Cells)
Strokes (Is This It)
Spearmint (Different Lifetime)
Muse (Orgin of Symmetry)
Morrissey (Singles Boxed set)
Seafood (When Will we start the Fighting)

Others of note;
Turin Brakes (Optimist LP)
Nick Cave (No More Shall We Part )
Stephen Malkmus (Stephen Malkmus)
StarSailor (Love is here) pains me to admit this!
Gene (Libertine) grown on me!

Also quite enjoyed Daft Punk, Elbow and I Am kloot at different (brief) times!

Hmm.. next up.. my review of the gigs of the year!!

Good on'ya Ruffian. I heartily concur with *most* of your list, except The Strokes, who i think are overrated tosh. I can't understand all the fuss. They don't even write b-sides .... all their single tracks are also on their albums. Where's the value for money in that? Bollocks ....

Cheers for your recommendation re: Spearmint a few months ago. They're ace, and "A Different Lifetime" was my album of the year for 2001.

> StarSailor (Love is here) pains me to admit this!
Me too, but it *is* a great album, even though everything about it makes you think it wouldn't be.

> Gene (Libertine) grown on me!
I think this is just fantastic. Really groovy and sexy, and quite downbeat.

Here's to a great 2002

Goldfrap - Felt Mountain, best new thing I've heard for a good few years.
And I have to mention Paul Heatons solo album - Biscuit Boy aka Crackerman, spot on as usual, though it's falling on death ears here.

I didn't know about the Heaton Solo work.. Must investigate it.. Is it available here? Thanks for bringing it to my attention..

I always think the Beautiful South were magnificnet in there first two albums and then got, dare I say, too commercial. Bring back 'Sail This Ship Alone' and songs from that era!

Are you Leeds bound for this Panic night..?

Whats this 'Panic' night all about, it's only a short trip for me to Leeds, so will be interested if I'm available, when is it ?

Can't say I'm suprised you haven't heard about Heatons solo album, it received no build up or attention at all in the weeks leading up to and since it's release, despite getting good reviews. The band consist of some Beautiful South and some of Joe Strummers Mescillaros (sp) band, and some people who I have never heard of, but make wonderful contributions.

TBS have never succombed to indie snobbery which is why they have been succesful commercially in the UK without really playing the game, that and they have an endless supply of catchy tunes, last single wasn't very good though.
As for the albums they are all tops IMHO, 0898 is the best, the third one. I have to admit I have more confidence in Heaton and TBS' future work to be spot on, than any possible future release from Moz.

Has to be Goldfrapp's Felt Mountain (although it was from late 2000)
Also: Zero 7 - Simple Things
Bent - Programmed to Love
Faithless - Outrospective
Daft Punk, Kosheen and Depeche Mode deserve a mention, too

My top albums would be:
God Hates Us All - Slayer
Flowers - Echo And The Bunnymen
Reveal - REM

Lets hope that Mozzer returns this year, but my prediction will be a comeback in early 2003.
